Hello Gentlemen!

I am seeking your help, once again.

What is the best cell phone on the market at the moment to take high quality pictures and videos. This will be mostly use for close up and tiny details.

While I do have a micro lense it's not it.

TIA

LOL If this is what it takes!
OnePlus 12.

You can't buy this from one of the Canadian Carriers. You buy it direct from OnePlus; they'll ship it to you in 2 business days.

The cameras are tuned by Hasselblad; they are really good.

There is a promo for $130 on the 16GB/512RAM version, and you get an additional $150 minimum for recycling any device. I paid $1,039 after tax for mine.

OnePlus guarantees 4 major Android updates.

Pair that with the best BYOD plan you can find. I can confirm it works perfectly fine on Chatr (Rogers) and will probably work as well on either Bell or Telus brands.

I love iPhones, I took some of my “professional” photos with one.

Tech news was abuzz with the new Pixel 9 lineup that Google unveiled last week. I'm considering upgrading my Pixel 5 (which works fine including the camera but one of the apps I use is pushing me hard for a fingerprint sensor).

Phone cams used to be weak in aperture control and I'm not sure if the Pixel 9 cam is any good at close-up shoots, but it seems more software features and AI are complementing those areas. From what I've read, it's giving good first impressions.

The differences between the top of the line camera / phones is minimal compared to the talents of the photographer using it. I have had people bragging about the technical specifications of their latest phone camera purchase and yet their photos lack creativity, composition and content.

I second that. I'm a Samsung guy and my buddy has the latest Iphone. We took some pictures at the rogers centre. His phone's pictures and videos can't compare to the samsung in any category. He was amazed at the Zoom capabilities of the Ultra.

I own a S21 and always liked Samsung. It's the price of the S24+ that makes me hesitate and wonder, before I splurge, if there is something better out there since my focus is on the camera more than anything else.

I still have buyers remorse about my S23 Ultra. Why a phone costs as much as a gaming laptop, I'll never know.

On the other hand, I like the 1Tb storage of the iphone pro and is 5x zoom. Never used iphone. Scared. 2400$ that's a lot.

If your S21 is in good condition and you want to trade it in to OnePlus, they'll give you a credit up to $253 for it. That, combined with the Back to School promo of $130, lowers the cost of the OnePlus12 to $816.99 + HST = $923.20. The Back to School promo is even better now, as apparently they will also throw in these earbuds for free.

Buy OnePlus Buds Pro 2 - OnePlus Canada - OnePlus (Canada)

I could have bought a S24 for $779.99 + HST directly from Samsung as they ran a crazy promo at the end of July; however, I had to order the phone in one of the Exclusive Colours and it was going to take them 4 weeks to ship minimum. I didn't want to wait that long. Hence, I cancelled my order and purchased the OnePlus 12 instead. I am happy with my choice.

La la land
Last year I gave a family member a Galaxy S20 FE.
The Apple family member was amazed at the picture quality even after they did a comparison of the same scenery. The Galaxy owner doesn't know how to take pictures or video and yet their pictures and video are way the hell better than my Oneplus 7 or the Apple.

You figure.

Shouldn't you be in the Camera forum asking this question?

I was in the same boat. Check the Samsung website, they offer much better trade in values. I was at the point that the difference between the upgrade was only going to get worse over time. I was happy with my S21 Ultra but the new S24 had a lot of AI features that I found useful at work. I also liked the built in S-Pen features for on site photo notes when appraising supplier equipment failures. I have a lot of video meetings so the featrure of transcribing and obtaining meeting summaries are nice. (Maybe available on other devices) Finally, I work as an independent consultant so I did write off part of the cost.

I jumped from the iPhone family because of personal preference. I am not advocating any specific phone over the other.
