Best car alarms / best place in the GTA to install

I am buying a car that I'd like to have a car alarm installed in. With a little bit of on line research it seems that two popular car alarms are viper and compustar. Does anyone have any car alarm recommendations? Also any good leads on where in the GTA to have one installed?

Haven't these been shown to be a waste of time/money? Have you ever seen anyone run to the aid of a car alarm? Most people consider them a pest and some municipalities have banned them for that reason.

You'll never stop a pro but it has some effect on the opportunist amateur.

Had Vipers put into three different vehicles and can't remember one false alarm. I also tilt the balance by putting another sticker in the window just so the perp doesn't know what's under hood. It's been four years and will try to look at others in the near future for a new vehicle, but I have so far been very happy. Mind you my wheels aren't costing 6 figures.
