Bernina is widely considered the Rolls Royce of sewing machines. Expect to pay $2K and up. Hope this helps.

Best Sewing Machine - Pfaff

I have been sewing for twenty years and I swear by the Pfaff sewing machine. They are far superior to Singer. They are a little bit pricier, but definitely worth the quality...I would not part with mine for the world.

Also if you have any sewing related questions you are welcome to PM me.

lol I was just thinking the same thing...and it looks like only MEN responded
That is because I went with the LSW when she bought a machine, and I convinced her to get the model above the one she was thinking of buying. She accompanied me when I went to buy a car, to return the favour!

Women, Men, we are all in it together!

Actually I did major research on this many years ago and found that Elna was the choice among the pros, it was considered the Rolls Royce at the time. I bought one, not for me, lol, and it's still going strong 30 years later, no problems.

I haven't done any research lately, but the ones mentioned in this thread, ie . Elna, Bernina, and Husqvarna, were the top ones when I made my decision. I probably would look at Pfaff as well, they make everything else well, so why not a sewing machine. Do your research on these 4, can't go wrong, you're in the higher price range though. If too expensive for you, then go Singer.
