seriously... the government is going to waste more money chasing after bullshit. first world problems sucking the money out of our pockets
Likely industry insiders asking the government to remove them to eliminate waste. Products are sitting longer in warehouses and store shelves that are perfectly fine that customers won’t buy.
My store had to write off 12 cases of coke product that was perfectly fine. The warehouse is delivering it with only weeks left on the BBD.

So much food is being wasted because those dates don't mean anything.

I just had yogurt that was 2 months past date, it was completely fine. Unopened, it lasts forever in the fridge. So does refrigerated bread. Some things like milk, need the date though.

I asked a bar owner once, he said serving ginger ale (in his case) past its BBD and a customer gets sick is a liability issue.

I’ve volunteered as a sorter at the food bank and we’re told to keep anything up to 2 years past the best before date. That doesn’t include items with a true expiration date which is completely different than a best before date.

My cat died in April, 2019. I had four shrink wrapped boxes of Wiskas wet food left over, with July, 2020 best before date. I never got around to putting them on the front lawn for the first person who wanted them.

About two months ago, a neighbour asked me if I had any cat food. I gave him the four boxes, but pointed out that the food was almost three years past its expiry date. Cats won't eat rotten food; they can tell if its off by the smell.

The neighbour told me that the food was fine.

I find with apple juice for example, once you break the seal on the bottle/carton the content is good for only 3 more days or so unless you put it in the icebox.

As stated, best before dates are an indicator of when the food is past its prime. Maybe educate people on the meaning. Besides, most people can make an informed judgement via sight/smell/taste if a product is off. If they want to remove the BB date, then they should be forced to put the production date on the product in a human reading format.

My neighbour's wife is long past her prime but that doesn't
stop me from sleeping with her. Like your age best before
date is just a number. The important thing is to be discreet.

Loblaws/Weston group is notoriously bad on logistics, staging, scheduling.

I used to date this brilliantly smart hottie who was then a senior business analyst at Weston and even she said she couldn't figure out wtf the problem there was. But it was a big problem.

I thought I would use the original name for refrigerator but I temporarily forgot this is TERB.

" though icebox is still sometimes used to refer to mechanical refrigerators"
