This thread brought back some memories. I don't play video games anymore but back in the 80's I borrowed my brothers Sega. I was working in a job where I was off most of the winter so figured it would be a good way to kill some time.
I ended up loosing the next two months playing Wonder Boy and Safari Hunt 8 hrs. a day 7 days a week.
I did complete them both. Wonder Boy was the toughest, especially the ice section. Safari Hunt was easier and there was a story going around that if you ever finished it there was a message at the end that was disturbing and Sega ended up changing it. The original game with that message are apparently very collectible. I asked my brother if he still had it but it went in the trash a long time ago.
I goggled and found the original message.

Personally, I'm still hooked on Rocket League. So much fun.
Also still playing Rainbow 6 Siege, so tactical and intense.
I've had some fun recently with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It scratches my Super Smash Brothers itch.

Now for my PC Master Race rant:
My advice to anyone thinking about buying a new console is: consider getting a gaming PC or some upgrades for an existing computer. It's so much better than consoles in many ways. Wider selection of games, your money goes a lot further because computers are useful for things besides gaming, it doesn't become obsolete when the next generation comes out, and you're not married to a single company that can gouge you up the ass on every single transaction. It's simpler and cheaper than most people think to build your own PC. Or if you have money to spend, can get a plug-and-play one. It's not hard to connect whatever controllers you want. And unless your TV is ancient, you can use a TV as a monitor.

I switched over to PC years ago after my second PS3 died even after sending it to Sony for expensive repairs, and never looked back. And I like that with emulators, it makes it so convenient to play ANY old console game. I like having friends over to reminisce while playing Super Smash Brothers or Mario Kart. I have Playstation and Xbox controllers so people can use whatever they prefer. Then at the press of a button can switch over to playing some classic PS2 games, then show off the latest AAA game I downloaded for free.

Played these games as a kid religiously at the Arcade at plaza South-East corner of Gilder and Eglington in Scarborough - great memories!

Used to love Super Mario Galaxy I & II.

Honorable mention to Mario Sunshine.

Also spent hours playing Pikmin 3.

Looks childish but I really like Autonauts.

It's out on all the consoles now(was originally only on PC) and it's all about building increasingly complex logistics via programming cute little wind up robots to do various tasks.

So while at first your "colonists" might be fine with just raw berries and sleeping on the ground outside, as they evolve you have to keep more needs fulfilled like clothing, shelter, entertainment, and more complex food. While being sustainable because the map size and resource count is "limited"

The programming aspect is simple enough that a kid can pick it up quickly since it's "teaching" based (you show the robot what to do and then can add extra things like do this until X or Y happens ) but still solid enough that someone who knows what they are doing can do some pretty efficient stuff.

The company that made it (2 guys from Scotland I think) also released a new one called Autonauts VS Piratebots which takes the same base concept but also adds pirate raids you have to protect against and pirate outposts to get rid of. Still with the same kid friendly aesthetic.

Of course, I like the Legend of Zelda the best! It's the game of my childhood. It's also a game that I've read a lot of fanfics about. Probably every other fanfic I read when I was 12, was about Link, you know. But if you're not an RPG fan and don't like old-school, then play FIFA 22. I know where you can download the key to the game FIFA 22 Cheap. This game is also very addictive. I don't know how you'll rate it, but in 2022, people REALLY know how to develop cool games. Every new game I download on my Switch is a masterpiece. I never cease to be amazed at cool technology these days. And despite my love for modern games, I sometimes think of my old Nintendo and Castlevania on it.

With this thread being 3+ months old, it is pretty fucking sad that not one TERB pervert has mentioned Leisure Suit Larry

Such a great game right here, haha. For something a little more light, Splatoon 3 for the Switch just came out and is a fun FPS to kill time
