Ok , the US dollar has dropped about 18 to 20 % compared to 14 months ago . Why haven't we seen some reduction in price for :

1) Californian wines or Jack Daniels

2 ) Corvettes

3) Movies

Is the LCBO scooping this windfall ? Or even chinese made products such as Nikes ( given the chinese currency has been pegged to the US dollar ) ?

The lags are great with regard to currency movements We didn't have huge inflation #'s as the Canadian dollar dropped at the end of the nineties. It also depends what type of currency price is built into the model of the business.

As for the LCBO, they would only drop the price if they weren't a monopoly, but they are, so they won't. Ditto for movies, but the movie production business in Canada is going to die fast, as we have lost our competetive advantage there.

Stuck in Lodi again
Also there should be reductions in imported vegetables and fruits from southern states and the price of gasoline as a barrel of oil is quoted in $US. Funny how that doesn't happen though.

the price of gasoline definately did not rise as much here as it did in the states over the past 12 months. The dollar helped in that way, but gasoline prices went through the roof anyways.
