Fucking Bell internet sux!!! I have Max ultra 6Mb down, but right now I'm only getting 700 kbs down.
Total bullshit!!!



Cant get anyone on the phone either except for Abdul in WhereverStan :mad
 
Welcome to the wonderful world of Indian call centres! Frustrating isn't it! :mad:

Here's a hint for next time... When the automated system asks you for english or french speaking, press 2 for french. You'll likely get a bilingual person here in Canada. People from India DON'T speak french... although they DO speak English, I have no farking idea what they hel they are saying most of the time due to the thick accent.
 
I believe it was announced that Bell is going (if not already) to move their call centre back home! So, what the hell happened?!!!!

Re your low speed, are you downloading anything with Torrent or newsgroups? If it's always like that, well, you are not the only unhappy customer. Time to switch and avoid wasting your $$.

I switched to Nexicom (nexicom.net). I get the advertised speed, and there are no caps. Plus, you get free usenet access which, to me, is the best kept secret of the internet. Best source for movies, music and porn.

Nexicom has their account with Giganews, which has 240 day retention.

Overall, just excellent.

No. That's the simple answer.

I discovered them through an internet board where one of the employees posts regularly. I've been with them 3 or so years now, after my previous carrier (look.ca) cancelled their usenet (as did most providers).

Now, I hope you're not confusing bits with bytes. Mb is a megabit. MB is a megabyte. So, when you say "700 kbs down" do you mean KB or Kb?

Most people are familiar with bytes, but internet providers tend to advertise their speeds in "bits" to make it seem its faster than it is.

I'm not good with computers, but I'm almost positive I'm supposed to get 6 Mbs down and 800 kbps up. So thats 6,000 kbps down, right??

Except I'm not getting it consistently, some days its 6Mb down, other days its 3Mb and sometimes its even 300 kbps down :eek:
As you can see in the first post today I only got 750 kbps down

But first write down which numbers need to be pressed to get to the technical support person, the IVR instructions are in French if you press 2.

Both Bell & Rogers are big rip-off's, its high time we should have some better server companies who are more service oriented, and not rip-offs
Both the multi-billion companies BEll & Rogers are ripping-off their valued clients by charging every month their so-called and non-government approved System Access Fees making tons of $$$$$$$$$$$$$'s from their consumers pockets even in such hard recession times, its really a shameful act by both such huge server companies, its high time some Govt. Authority should ask them to stop charging every month their illegal System Access Fees. I was shocked to read their recent ad in which they even charge their System Access Fees evry month on their newly launched Rocket Internet USB Stick, which is so illogical and totally unwarranted.

Register with your phone number. Describe your situation. It is monitored by Bell techs. They can check line quality stats, make speed corrections if that is your issue.

How come I live in downtown Toronto and I have Nexicom? Trust me. They supply Toronto.

Yes, their rates are excellent. Superior service at a cheaper price. Partly because they don't spend millions on marketing. Why else do people think Bell and Rogers are the only game in town?

I have Nexicom's Turbo service, which advertises 5 Mbps. I just tested it and usually I get the full 5 Mbps. Tonight, however, it does seem a tad slower (see attached image)

I have Bell Sympatico Ultra Max. Just tested it and got:

Download: 3.70 Mb/s
Upload: 0.95 Mb/s
Ping: 166 ms

There are still options out there. Teksavvy.com one of them.

Yes, there is one little problem! They use Bell lines. And, as you know, Bell is screwing with everyone including these guys.

It's a little extra work but very easy and well worth your time. Once you do that, they can no longer throttle your internet activities.

FYI, Teksavvy and a few others have started a lawsuit against Bell.

EDIT ---> Because of Rogers higher speed, I am still with them! They charge me $25.00 extra every month because I go over my limit, ie; 90 GB or something. But, every month my bill shows a saving of over $400 to $600! Reason? I do my best to go nuts by downloading whatever crap I need or .... don't need!!! :D

Had a free Giganews account for a couple years included with Adelphia before Time Warner took then over in Buffalo NY. Giganews was great, once you use newgroups you will never be happy with torrents anymore.
