So BELL called me yesterday, the deal they're now offering is Fibe TV (includes 170 channels), 1 gigabite down internet, plus a free landline number.
All that for $129/month.

They are even throwing in a free VISA gift card worth $350:

I'm talking it over with SO to see if we should go for it.
Currently with Rogers. 500mb down internet for $118/month, but no TV or landline.

Any thoughts??

You won't get any local hockey games that aren't on TSN unless you pay extra for sportsnet channels or the NHL package. Even out of market games will be blacked out due to Rogers deal with the NHL.

350 dollar gift card? But you must surely have to commit for a certain period of time. Go to the flea market and get iptv for $20 and get a thousand channels

I already have IPTV. The problem with IPTV is the channels buffer a lot, sometimes they have no audio, sometimes they go blank....etc...etc.
Dont get me wrong, for $15 its still worth it, but it does have its drawbacks.

Anyways, I dont think I'm gonna go for it. A BELL technician has to come over and install the fibre optic cables, which can take 3 to 4 hours.
Aint nobody got time for that

Does it buffer because maybe your internet is not fast enough? I think iptv is asking 50 download minimum.

It may be his internet, although with 500 mb it's not likely to be the speed. It's more likely the provider he's using. Try someone else for a few days, and then another till you find someone with the service you need. Don't give uup what you have in the meantime and use it as a backup for the trial periods.

Ah, to be a boomer and watch TV. I guess it depends what you like to consume and if you can't miss a game.
Depending on your area, beanfield offers gigabit for $50/month paired with a voip system and IPTV you'd probably save a good amount a month.

Another ISP is FibreStream, but I think they only do condos.

If you give me an idea of what you normally like to watch I could try to find an IPTV service.

I'm a simple man, the internet alone would be good enough for me.
If you have the know how you can watch anything for free.

But, I'm probably heavily biased because I hate Bell.

Biggest issue is 99% of time you have no price protection

So they offer you a promo price that is artificially low for market
You sign a 2 year contract
They then raise rates and you can not cancel unless you pay penalty

Rogers does same thing its not like a Bell only issue
No consumer protection whatsoever

Its a 1-year contract and they wont raise higher than annual inflation rate
