As some of you have seen I have shared my story on another board. I would like to share this with the TERBies here!

After reading Bi-Sherry's discussion on "Challenged Clients" and the fact that this topic isn't discussed that often I would like to share a my story as a physically challenged person in this hobby.

I was born with a condition commonly known as Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. This condition affects the nervous system and has different degrees of severity. Some people are paralyzed from the waist down and use a wheelchair. As for me I was quite fortunate and I am able to walk. Many would describe me as being quite an independant person. I may need help now and then. I find standing for long periods of time and walking long distances can be quite tiring and painful so I have learned what my limits are and just do what I can. The reason why I have these symptoms is due to tightness or spasticity of the muscles especially in the legs. Light excercise can alleviate these symptoms somewhat but it will not cure my condition as I will live with this for the rest of my life.

Despite my limitations the one thing it hasn't kept me from enjoying is sexual intercourse. I am limited to what sexual postions I can perform due to my muscle spasticity.

Let me tell you people with more severe conditions than myself can enjoy sex as well

I have been in this hobby of and on for about two years now and I have met ladies who have been understanding and accommodating to my needs. I know there is ladies in this industry as well as males who have a disability that may have not felt 100% comfortable during their session. My reccommendation that will help is "Communication"! For the guys, when you are interested in meeting with a lady tell them by phone or e-mail your needs. Some people with disabilities require attendant care services which will require a little extra planning prior to the session. Another suggestion I have is to ask questions of each other to ensure whether your comfortable to go through with the encounter.

When I first meet with the lady I discuss with her that some sexual postions I prefer over others and during the actual session if I am in any discomfort at all to take a break or try another postion. We are together to enjoy being with each other

I do not hobby that often but when i do meet with an SP I share with her my needs as much as I am comfortable with. Disclosure of your condition to them is not neccessary unless you are ok with it.

I sure hope this has given you some new knowledge on understanding my condition as well other people with disabilities

Here is a link with some more info on my condition

I am open to any questions you may have!

Leaffan,

Well nice to see your post it was a great read. I myself (although I am not disabled) I have 2 very dear friends with the disability and we have talked often about thier sexual limits, however the positions may be limited thier enjoyment sure is not. All the best to you....

well many people say I am a very positive person. I have been thru a lot of shit in my life but I try to be strong and I beleive there is much in my life i can accomplish sex being one of them!

I understand that my children are at high risk of being born with the same condition if my partner and I don't take the proper steps. But first I need to find a partner lol

This post was the exact same one that i talked about on another site so your not missing a thing!

Thats cool... ya my girlfriend said the same thing about her kids.. which she has none yet, but is really worried because she does not want them to go throu life like she did... but she said that they have found new ways to prevent the high risk.. so good luck to you...
And don't ever stop being so positive .. it's really refreshing to see ...

I found this thread very interesting as I also have spinabifida since birth not confined into a wheelchair but I do wear leg braces when I walk, the disability does affect the sex life somewhat in the self esteem area, but what positions I am able to do like Leaffan, but I have seen some great MPA's and SP's in my time that with some guidance and assistance have made things extremely enjoyable.
