The 3 African guys probably earned a few times more through the bribes to allow the Chinese runner to win.

That said, now China is not poor and can afford to actually participate in sports and afford to feed and train their athletes, just watch in 10-15 years China will dominate a lot of sports including track and field and watch the Americans start accusing them of taking steriods. If the US can't win then others must be cheating!

Funny, but Russia has an annual Tank biathlon. They invite China, India and a few other former Soviet States. They rig their T90 tanks with suped up engines etc and wont let others modify their tanks. So they win every single time. Its hilarious! But definitely entertaining. I never knew this was a thing until a month or so ago!

I know it’s fun to rip on China sports cheating/etc, but it’s general practice to have pacers for the lead national guy/girl and there is a decent chance those guys were hired on pacer contracts.
