I have been reading various posts about how appalled people are when bbfs is offered and this got me thinking, At the same time they talk about how daty was available and i'm thinking....how ironic. Here you are buried up to your ears in someones muff, inhaling and swallowing god knows what but you won't have bbfs. Is your pecker more susceptible to std that your mouth and face. Don't get me wrong, I am not advocating bbfs, and I love daty as much as the next guy, but if you think about it, it really is a double standard.

Oral sex is inherently safer because saliva contains an inhibitory factor against the HIV virus. Also, because bbfs is more rigorous, it is much more likely to result in small tears in the tissue which can expose one to the HIV virus. Of course, oral sex still carries a risk, but the person receiving oral sex has a virtually 0% chance of getting the HIV virus from one act. The person performing has a slightly greater risk, but even then the risk is incredibly small.

I think the difference is that BBFS is associated as a a method of contracting HIV/AIDS whereas DATY is not.
However, that being said there are many diseases one can contract from performing DATY. But even then you can minimize your risk with a visual inspection and knowledge that most diseases that you can get from DATY are treatable.
Herpes cannot be cured but it's not life threatening and it's common enough that it's not a big deal.

The risk of contracting SOME disease via DATY or BBFS is probably about the same. The big difference is WHAT disease you are likely to get. BBFS is associated with HIV whereas DATY is not.
However, via DATY or DFK you could pick up pretty much any other infectious disease that the SP may be carrying, from a cold or the flu to something potentially more serious, and a there few specific STD's as well that you could get--herpes being the big one.
Perhaps the one you should worry most about would be hepatitis. Not every strain of hepatitis can be vaccinated against, but a fair number can be, and so anyone who is going to do any kind of BBBJ/DATY/DFK with random strangers should probably go and get the set of three twinrix shots (now, in one month, and in six months) that vaccinate you agaisnt at least some of them for life.
Obviously that doesn't save you against picking up whatever other random diseases are circulating. Swapping bodily fluids practically guarantees that you'll catch whatever she's got. Fortunately, it probably isn't fatal.
Scary things floating around out there, especially among some immigrant groups: tuberculosis, meningitis, etc., obviously can be picked up by any close physical contact. The risk is lower though.
Good general advice is if the SP is sneezing, coughing, or in any other way looks sick, walk away. For SP's the same advice WRT clients.
