Is it just me or do these 2 albums seem much more different than other albums put up for battle? Rumours seems more pop whereas Bat out of hell seems more rock.

Rumours is the better album but one cannot discount the popularity Paradise By The Dashboard Light in that time.

It was one of the longer plays on the radio that I ever remember.

Both suck.
I heard an interview with Todd Rundgren who amazingly, produced Bat out of Hell along with a bunch of other huge albums. He was quite disparaging about it. And about Meat Loaf.
I know Rumors was a fluffy hit. Didn't really care much about it either way. Having seen the original Fleetwood Mack in 1968 with Peter Green I can say I wasn't all that impressed by them either.
