Battle of the Classic Rock albums Day 7: KISS vs RUSH. Who had the better debut?

OK, @Sonic Temple , I think we have each other's backs here. I'm saying Rush all the way.

Granted, I'm not the biggest KISS fan, but their debut is probably my favourite, so I think that evens things out a bit.

I thought this would be a good pairing since the two albums were released fairly close together in 1974 and the two bands came of age in the '70s together.

Kiss had the better debut, but I'd say Rush is a more solid band.

Ok - gonna really try to keep an open mind on this one - I really am - as I am a big Kiss fan as well, still remember walking into Sam's and buying my first Kiss record "Lick It Up' at Eglinton Mall back in the day.

I would go with Rush. Can't remember much or maybe not heard much of the first Kiss album. But I had their Destoyer album and saw them in 78 or 79 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Lots of fireworks. By the way, I read those chicks with the banner on Kiss Alive are not chicks. They are dudes.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know what John Rutsey did after he left Rush?

I know he had diabetes that was causing him grief and was one of the reasons he left the band a few months after this album came out, and I know he died in 2008. I also know his brother Bill was a sports reporter in Toronto, but I can't find any other information on him. I imagine he just got on with life and took a 9-5 job?

Hard to find any info besides becoming a weight lifter. And who knows how many times he was at the Gym with Alex.

Yes, I'd also heard that he'd gotten into bodybuilding as well. Which is sort of odd to picture, because he was a small, thin guy when he was in the band.
