Total waste of money. The approximate cost will skyrocket once the contractor gets the contract. It is like that with everyone that they put out to tender, the total cost is at least 30-60% higher once they are done.

Of course, the project will go over budget and there will be a scandal, but the barriers will go up. Along with the fare.

They are doing upgrades and getting new trains, anyways, might as well put the barriers up while they are at it. Hopefully the new upgrades and trains allow them to cut down on staff. I'm surprised they haven't got rid of the booth attendants yet.

The new trains might be controlled via GPS, then they could enter the station slower and they could avoid the barriers altogether. The new trains will be on the Yonge/University line , being a sectionless train they could also hold more people as well.

I know their are alot of problems on the TTC but the decisions come from the staff.. There is over 4500 staff on the payroll and 5500 unionized workers.
