He did honestly say no evidence of voter fraud. Then once the coup planning started -the December 18 meeting- he abruptly resigned effective in one week (Dec 23). Well, the debatable word here is "credibly".
A "reliable" source - presumably that means that he sold useful information to the FBI before - passed on info from a third party that was not verified. Because he sold reliable information in the past doesn't mean this information was reliable. And no one is vouching for the third party source at all.
Barr had no reason to cover for Biden. Barr was playing for the GOP, not the Dems. The information was simply not reliable enough to run with. The only reason that it is being brandished now is as a distraction from the far more real legal shit that Trump is in.
