It's a great buying opportunity. I can't believe it's not been snapped up by now. Covid restrictions are going to be a thing in the past by end of 2021, all the pent-up sexual tension built up the last 9-10 months is going to be expended when strip clubs open up. I hear lots of hobbysts have been stockpiling cash, just waiting for herd immunity to happen.

Agree with the notion that there will be significant "pent-up" demand and hopeful that "restrictions are going to be a thing in the past by the end of 2021" but I'm wondering if the remaining clubs will still be around at that point in time. Yes, it would be great if someone purchased the 'Fax and reopened the club there, but my guess is that if/when sold the property will likely be put to some other use. Hope I'm wrong on that score.

An unfavourable outcome in the Byward Market would leave only the 'Den and the 'Mate, on this side of the river anyway. Plus, of course, Big Al's over in the Republic.

Perhaps I should've posted this as a new thread entitled 'Can The Local SCs Survive?' In any case, I'd be interested to hear any thoughts regarding expectations for the likely future(s) of the NuDen, Playmate and Pigale. Don't expect much response as the SC boards have been quiet lately for obvious reasons, but would welcome any comments/insights/guesses.

p.s. Oops, forgot Casino Cabaret - not very aware of the situation there.

Once things go back to normal, people will go back to the strip clubs. A lot of guys like the opportunity to see beautiful naked women in person and some just aren't interested in going through with the sp/mp experience, the strip club works for them. Sad that so many clubs have shut down, it used to be that they were close to the neighbourhood. Now it's either drive to Hull, Vanier or the East End. I miss the Silver Dollar, yes, it was what it was, but it also wasnt a drive Downtown or to the Quebec side. Pink Panther was a nice quiet place as well, it didnt have that vibe about it that something "could happen" there. With fewer clubs, you'll likely see more potential shit shows happen as everyone gathers in the few places. I haven't been since March and won't go until vaccinated, but I'll go back, I like to see beautiful naked women.

My hope in all of this is that the Strip Clubs are going to have to rethink their business. If these clubs are seen as B&S, they will die. If girls are seen as trying to overcount, client will go away. We have all found ways to cope during this pandemic. The business for SC is still there, I do enjoy seeing pretty girls strip all night! But not at any cost.

Maybe I'm just dreaming...

I'll go back as I love SC's especially Pigales for the food in addition to all the beautiful girls. Playmate will survive-rent for that place must be dirt cheap plus the staff are very good and the variety of girls is amazing. Nu Den will survive too; they have for all these years with often less than 10 customers day time. Over the years, I've had favourites in all 3 clubs.

I had been stockpiling my cash - but I thankfully used it for an expensive toy this summer - and I couldn't be happier !!
I have had lots of good experiences in the past at almost all the SC's in Ottawa and across the river.
I miss the one that was on Bank street (Diamonds, I think) - but they all had some good aspects.
The greatest thing about the SCs was seeing such a wide variety of women, and discovering the one that attracted you the most.
The worst thing about SCs were "shortened-songs" in the champagne rooms, and unscrupulous dancers who would try to cheat you out of money for dances.
Yup - good times !
It will be interesting to see what's left - for the summer of 2021.

I think the remaining clubs will be busy if the coronavirus ever leaves us. I have a few friends that I used to go there with and we're all waiting for the green light
No idea what the strip clubs have been like since March, didnt want to risk it, but I know theres a good number of people in the area who will be out to support the clubs when this stuff ends. Anyone with a SO has been stuck in the house with them for what will likely be a year or more with no opportunity to get out and see strange. The remaining clubs will do just fine.

The Barefax was my club of choice, so with it apparently gone and Barb's closed there's no longer any downtown options when everything does reopen. I guess that leaves the Playmate, which I've never gone to before.

Hard to believe it closed too.

Playmate... Well it's smaller and downstairs.

Playmate is barely acceptable compared to Nuden and Barb's.

Nuden is far but also better than playmate in my opinion.

Ottawa isn't looking too good for strip clubs. I hope there's at least one when the dust settles!

The Fish Market building very close to BareFax just sold for $5M. It is an infinitely better building than BF at $6M. So, I wouldn't expect any movement on that BF building until Spring 2022 at the earliest and for $3-$4M. Its a narrow building with very small street frontage. Tuckers Marketplace is also available, a great building with reasonable street frontage (read: patio).

Tuckers.
The quality of the food there sure went downhill over the years.
The last time I was there was indeed my "last".
The atrocity they committed against Bacon was unforgivable !

Why is the Fax closed? Skyrocketing insurance costs according to an interview with the owner in the Citizen

The Citizen article seems to suggest that Phil B. would like to re-open the club if the insurance issue could be resolved. Perhaps he didn't have many tire-kickers for a $6M sale of the building?

Actually not skyrocketing insurance for that bar, he couldn't get an insurance company to take him on at all. But it seems he is not the only bar like that, and the insurance industry is trying to gouge commercial operators in the whole hospitality industry. It will be interesting to see what happens, and who else will be effected by this when they go to renew their policies.

Looks there's a silver lining to the story, hopefully, once we put Covid behind us (Justin says we should be done by Sept of this year), the insurance landscape will be different, the Strip Clubs can say "halleluyah" and we can all go back to enjoying the fine ladies strut their stuff. I cannot wait.

Could Brass Club or Club Madellyn Jae move into the space ? No liquor license needed really though Brass Club and Club Madellyn Jae both do have liquor permits as both have bars in their downtown studios, Massage parlours are open and doing well. Both are licensed as Private Clubs. Brass Club downstairs and CMJ upstairs, would Phil go for that ? Or... hey here is a splendid idea, have a massage parlor in the Barefax space and keep the stage and have the masseuses do some short dances ? Brass Club in the Byward Market, Satisfaction Guaranteed !
