Both Harbor 60 and Barbarians are more or less the same. I'd give the edge to Harbor 60 myself, but somebody else may go the other way.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either.

Both are "old school" steak houses, with Barbarians being more old school I suppose (in that Habor 60 has a more modern up to date feel inside, better looking women working there too. (Far better as last time I was at Barbarians, it was pretty much all men working there).

Another "old school" steak house would be "The Octagon" up in Thornhill and La Castille in Mississauga, though La Castille would rank a distant 4'th on the list.

Once in a while, I'll go old school, but frankly, if you're looking for anything innovative, or unique on the menu, you are not going to find it. Not ever.

Steak is awesome. Horse radish is the best ever. Bourbon Manhattans are free pour.

Barbarians is probably the best steakhouse I've eaten at in Canada.

Again, not much eye candy as far as wait staff, but the servers there know their steak, and service has always been excellent.

Highly recommend.

Here
Whenever a steak thread shows up [and that is frequently] I like to remind you that there are many people who think that the House of Chan is the best there is in Toronto...

Not everyone's cuppa tea in decor or location, but the steak is unbeatable IMHO!

Barbarians is very good. Cozy, old school atmosphere and good steak.

If you are looking steak you might want to give Michael's on York a try.

Harbor 60 tries too hard.

LOL! True. I've been to Bymark, Harbor 60, Morton's, Ruth Chris' and Jacob's and I'd say the service and steaks were the best at Jacob's. Totally overate as well!

Well today i had a pricey day..somehow ended up at Hy's, Jacobs' and Barberians..through lunch the game and dinner..all i will say is i had dif steak cuts at each place. My most enjoyable was Barberians...

Jacobs is a little too pretentious for me..but really good food

Overall..i would rate in order (foodwise): barberians..jacobs..mortons..harbour 60..hys..ruth chris

I find Jacob's lacks the intimacy factor. I like Barberian's for the old school charm and appeal. And the owner is a stand out guy who goes out of his way to hire some low income people as kitchen staff to give them an opportunity to work in the kitchen and get off UI. My friend was one of his staff and said the owner was a stand up decent guy. I like giving business to people like that. And I always wanted to try the Kobe steak that is no longer on menu. Hy's has new staff over the past few years. Sometimes it feels like the staff is too inexperienced. I used to love the flawless execution of the old timers like Juan. Now only Jimmy remains of the old staff I think.
