It depends on the situation...
With repeat SP encounters, the money is usually left unmentioned and I hand it over (including a tip if appropriate) at the end. Once I even had to remind the SP to take the money before she left. I like it this way because it reflects a sense of trust that makes the atmosphere of the whole experience much more enjoyable.
However, I never expect this behaviour on a first visit. I totally expect the SP to request that "business" be taken care of early in the session and I always have the fee available and ready to hand over. If she does not mention it on a first visit, I will bring it up myself before things get too carried away.
The first time I see an SP (and she sees me) we are strangers to each other. I don't expect her to trust me...she does not know me!
