Out being curious
was it a dvd copy included or the data disc of the movie?
I've noticed most blu rays now come with a data disc...so u could watch it on ur comp...go figure..

Any one know what it's total box office take was, and/or what it made with dvd/blu ray/ pay perveiw?

It's not a "data disc" ... its a full DVD copy of the film...

I already know about data disc- this is so you can load it onto Ipods and other portable devices... I suppose it it too prevent people from ripping copies of their own movies themselves...


Sometime this weekend, I will load the DVD into my DVD player and the Blu-ray into my Blu-ray player and compare the 2 back to back...

Dances with Wolves in Space, a computer graphics show in 3d with zero originality, boring stereotype characters and a lousy script, that managed to make zillions of dollars, the end is near folks :)

Blu Ray and DVD disc in same package.

This is a new marketing tool. This is the third time I've come across it in the last month or two.

By buying the Blu Ray with the DVD inside you will not have to go out and replace all your DVD's when you buy a Blu Ray player. The DVD is included at no extra cost.

So I've heard. I think I'll stick with my noir films from the 40's and 50's. They have plot, character, good scripts, fine B+W photography, i.e. all those things that have sadly gone out of date in the world of the present.

Your confusing the purpose behind Avatar. Plot, character, and script were not the prime reason for the movie. It was the introduction of new technology. Yes it was a formula movie. Hollywood is full of them.

This still doesn't explain the rationale for including a DVD with the blu-ray... Just trying to understand your reasoning here... DVD's are all fully capable of running in Blu-ray players, in fact, most (if not all of them) will even upscale them to near HD quality... I have had a DVD player since 1997... and have over the years amassed a personal library of over 1200 titles (not counting our rather extensive library of adult titles...) and I'm not about to replace them all! I haven't come across a single one of them yet that won't play in my Blu-ray.... The only reason I still keep my DVD plugged into my home theater system is for versatility. (The DVD player is a five disc carousel and is a lot more user friendly for playing MP3 compilation DVD's...)

That's not quite the point. Rather, how many folks have a portable Blu Ray player or a Blu Ray player in their car or bedroom? But many do have DVD players for such. If you're going to sell Blu Ray, you'd also better keep that huge base of DVD customers happy.

Not really... those people would normally just buy the DVD regardless... why pay extra for the film if all the DVD's would still be fully compatible with any Blu-ray player they may happen to purchase in the future.
