Probably a schizophrenic that didn't take her meds.

A 45-year-old woman accused of attempted murder is due in court on Tuesday after she allegedly pushed another woman onto the subway tracks at Bloor-Yonge station.

Emergency crews were called to the station just after 9 p.m. on Sunday after getting reports that someone was pushed in front of an oncoming train.

Police tell CityNews a train arrived seconds after a 39-year-old woman was pushed onto the tracks on the westbound platform of the station. The victim narrowly escaped critical injuries when she was able to roll and press against the platform as the train went by.

She suffered a broken rib from the fall onto the tracks. Police say she was conscious and breathing when she was taken by paramedics to a nearby trauma centre via emergency run.

She remains in hospital with injuries but is expected to survive.

A TTC employee at Finch GO Station recognized the suspect on Monday evening from photos released by Toronto Police earlier in the day.

Officers arrived at the station around 6:30 p.m. and arrested 45-year-old Edith Frayne of Toronto. She has been charged with attempted murder and is due in court for a bail hearing at College Park at 10 a.m.

Police say there did not appear to be any altercation between the victim and the suspect prior to the incident.

The incident has renewed calls for improved safety features at Toronto subway stations, including safety barriers to be installed at the edge of each platform.

Same with our public libraries. Part of their "inclusive" policy.
People hanging around public libraries because there are no more rooming houses or jobs for low/no skilled workers. It's easy to blame drugs, but think about the lack of options available to many of these people before the drugs, let alone if they clean up - then what....

Nearly every restaurant has help wanted signs up. Lots of factories are screaming for unskilled workers including mine. Everybody in our industry is short on labour. Unemployment rate is at 40 year low. Every job will now pay at least 15 an hour and will be going up to 15.50 in October.

Job will not come to you though. Have to get off your ass and apply. Then you have to show up at interview looking like you are going to be at least a half decent worker and you WILL GET HIRED!

"Unemployment rate is at 40 year low."

Is it true that people who can't and/or refuse to work are not counted as unemployed?

Apparently, those barriers would cost $1.3billion.
Even it costs $1.3B, our elected officials should spend the money on it. It’s all about safety. In statement our government willing to sent millions or billions overseas to other countries. We should look after our own backyard first.

Definitely no accident. The platform wasn't even crowded at all.

LOL She's suing the TTC because she has no situational awareness.
This is the definition of a frivolous lawsuit.
Why would you stand on the edge of the platform when there isn’t even a train in sight and there are no crowds on the platform ?
Is the TTC supposed to spend $100s of millions in barriers because she’s oblivious ?
People no longer take responsibility for their own stupidity
