yep, he would be crying and taking a knee

as far as I know, only Alberta's premier had categorically call it a hate crime

Who do you think builds churches. Rich congregation, magnificent building, congregations without those advantages may have a "shack" as you put it. It's not the building, it's the faith of the community that matters...

Correct. It is the faith and respect of the community. Sadly, I think it has been lost.

I bet the perpetrator is some white leftist

Those "shacks" were of some historical and architectural significance; some more than 100 years old, at least one (Alberta's St. Jean Baptiste) was pretty IMO

The Catholic church was ordered to pay $25 million in restitution. They paid out $4 million and said they tried really hard.
Then they raised $25 million for a news spire on one church.

Does anybody go to Catholic church anymore? Maybe it saves the church having to maintain the buildings. Until the Catholic cleans up their act on so many issues they don't deserve anybody's support. Is it so much different from toppling statues?

but you OK with burning down churches which IS a hate crime
That's like looking at the Canadian prison population and judging the whole country accordingly.

The good thing is that technology is erasing religion. Before technology and the internet. Religions could do whatever they wanted and sweep things under the rug and nobody would know. Except of course the victims but they were always afraid to speak out.
Times are changing. My family is catholic. Generations. They were heavily orthodox and attended every Sunday. I see such hypocrisy even with my own family members. Religion is a joke if u ask me. Just a means to control people back in the day and keep people dumbed down. Its a racket. They dont even pay taxes? I never understood that.

Amen to that. All they have to do is apologize for the atrocities of the past.

All they have to do is apologise. Why is it sooo hard for the vatican/pope to apologize? There is so much disconnect and denial even though they know very well what's been going on.
If they think they can still save the face of the catholic religion, it's far too late. No PR can bring those who left the catholic church back to it. And denial will just make it worse.
It's time to put the catholic so called religion to bed. I see no positive purposes being served. There is more guilt associated with catholicism than positive outcomes.
