I remember my grandmother saying once that the hardest day in her life was when Ken weren't interested anymore.
A feminist wrote the following in 1991:
The change hurts. Like a person newly released from leg irons the freed woman staggers at first. Though her excessive visibility was anguish, her present invisibility is disorienting. She had not realized how much she depended upon her physical presence, at shop counters, at the garage, on the bus. For the first time in her life she finds that she has to raise her voice or wait endlessly while other people push in front of her.

She does not remember how bitterly she resented being hunted and harried through the world as a desirable female, does not remember having to take in the most spectacular monuments while walking briskly and keeping her eyes trained purposefully ahead, to avoid being accosted by the men who prowled on either side, does not remember being groped in cathedrals and frightened out of cinemas. She learns to avoid the heavy swing doors that are no longer held open for her, and to avoid places where her new invisibility means she will be trampled and jostled.

The woman who retains the viewpoint of the young, to whom older people are not only invisible but uninteresting, will manage this transition badly. [Germaine Greer, "The Change", 1991]

Most attractive women will tell you that the men who are most aggressive in approach are older white men with money and young black guys, though their approach is quite different obviously. Ask a hot chick how many times she's been catcalled by an Asian, for instance. I had a friend who was a promotional model who complained all the time about this. "Why don't cute shy young white guys make passes at me?"

As Oscar Wilde said...
"The only worse than being talked about is not being talked about."

women cannot advocating criminalizing "catcalling" and them complain when men don't want to talk to them

Wait til she's 35+ and the catcalling comes to a screeching halt.
dont hold your breath.

women usually look extremely fuckable all the way up to their 50's. with the magic of makeup, hair, etc etc.

if you're going to wait for them to get ugly. you're going to wait a loooooooooong time.

I have never in my life ever seen a 50 year old woman hit on in public or catcalled. Womens fertility declined in her 30's. It doesn't even make sense from a biological perspective to see a 50 year old the same way a man sees a 20 year old woman.
Nor have I seen a 40 year old woman catcalled. And the brothers in the video are unlikely to ever do that.

cut the feminist shaming tactics. hot attractive women are not the ones complaining about street harassment.
Not sure about that. In fact, I'd disagree.

And what checks said had some merit. What kind of legitimate response to this thread is that the woman is ugly?

I think she has an agenda, and is vastly exaggerating circumstances in a way as to support her viewpoint. But calling her ugly is just crass.

All men are pigs, and we freely admit to it. Women are gold digging whores. But tell a woman that she or some of her friends are gold-diggers and you'll get the knee-jerk reaction that not only is she NOT a gold digger, but NONE of her friends are either. When that's the first thing a woman tells you, you know she's a huge whore that can never be trusted.
Very true.

Pig-dom makes the world go round though. Everything a man does, he does to get laid. We go out, bust our asses, earn a living, make money to buy a house, a car, pay for food so that we can attract a woman to have sex with. Been the same since the beginning of time.

Women are by and large coy (at best), phonies (at worst). Ask a woman what she finds attractive in a man and you'll get a pile of steaming esoteric shit about personality, and sense of humour, and fun to be with. The reality is what makes them wet is a tall good looking guy, better yet, a tall good looking guy with a thick wallet.

I disagree, I've seen lots of fuckable 50 year old women.

Just look at this TERB thread.

I don't think there's one in there that I wouldn't want to lay the blocks to.

Woman walks in a middle class part of town and gets no catcalls. This is in Aukland. And the prior video of Shoshana was shot in harlem.

What's wrong with catcalling? I still call girls at the checkout or teller "sweetheart", and they love it.

This jogged my memory of when I was I Cuba about a month ago.

I stayed in Havana, at a friend's apartment right in the city.
In the early morning and early evening I would perch on the balcony and watch people on the street, people walking back and forth, people
milling around their own places. The side streets are buzzing at all hours of the day.

What I found amazing was with all the beautiful, attractive, women and girls that walked by, I never once saw a guy make remarks
or eye them up and down. Even men in a group, they would never turn around to check her out, or do anything to try to get
their attention. And I mean, a lot of these babes are stunning, in a very simple and natural way. The women walked with such ease and
comfort amongst the men, young and old, I was really struck by it. It's still a culture of machismo in that men and women have defined roles, but the
men are generally very respectful of women and are very charming and gracious in a genuine way.

Agreed, heard of it and seen it first hand myself, they're cultured that's why.

The guy asking for directions wasn't really wanting directions, that was obvious. lol

The video in the original post, I was going to say, the majority all looked black to me, so Harlem would explain it.
I wonder how many white, yellow, brown and black people would catcall then. I'd be interested in the numbers there then in comparison to the Harlem one.

I hate to admit it but it's true. Not quite a 'screeching halt' but it does start to slow down. And then you kind of miss it. When I was in my twenties, I could barely walk a block or two without catcalls, honks, guys saying "smile for me baby". Oh well. :( I still get hit on in bars a lot.

These guys are not Wall street broker millionaires in suits worth millions and driving Porsches so obviously to most women they would be uncouth and off the list no matter what they did.

Guys catcall for many reasons and not necessarily to denigrate women but to boost her ego, be friendly in a cool macho way etc.

Again it comes down to who does it and if the woman is attracted to such types.

The fact that this woman would go out and walk this to prove a point speaks volumes about her really.

Feminist possibly.

Not to mention they cut out the parts where there is no response to her and just show selcted parts.

She's pretty meh at best which kind of make sthe whole thing even worst.

You didn't see it in Auckland because generally white men gots no game, grew up to be more educated and groomed to be more "civilized" towards women according to societies conventions.

Plus the abundance of sheep negates the need for women.

Most of the guys who harassed her were black. I would think that she could get a similar response in any neighbourhood that has a similar ethnic mix.

I've rarely/never 'cat'-called' at a woman. Always found it silly as I doubt it would make them about-face and talk to me anyway.

However, if this is a rape awareness video, I don't see how it really applies. Maybe because I'm not a woman, but I figure that rapists wouldn't give their victims a warning such as a cat-call. For me the video just depicts something that I've noticed for a long time; American men are more aggressive at pursuing women than Canadian men.

I've seen black men hit up women in Toronto too (happened to be white women - LCBO line and mall). Shot down both times but i don't think it matters to them.
