Sorry my opinion bothers you. I am suppose to believe what the above poster said because you say so...... lol

And don't take this like I'm anti-you or anything, but where is the info about the census results being given to LM and the US government? I'd like to read it and with your strong feelings regarding it you must have some solid information that the rest of us don't have....

Just the same info that you all have been given. I didn't say that the results were being given either. It is not like StatsCan is just saying "here you go Bush". I understand that, but I feel that LM is not to be trusted, nothing is completely secure, and I don't think that supportng LM or the company either US or Canada is good thing, and again these are just my personal feelings. I am sorry that you and others many not agree with me. I am sorry if you and others feel my feelings, opinions and beliefs in this matter are wrong, but that is for y'all to deal with. I don't think that our data is going to be secure when dealing with LM Canada.

KWI
Ok, so you're basing your decision on something you read on an escort review board? You have no official (read: reputable newspaper/news agency or government website) information that what was posted here is correct?

Wait, don't tell me, you buy stocks based on all those spam emails we receive too don't you? (Lol sorry, I just couldn't resist yanking your chain).

Sorry, but I'd never make a decision that could have me face a monetary fine or jail time based on information I read here......but you've got every right to do what you see fit....

I was just wondering whether or not the government would actually go as far as to jail someone for not filling oput the census, or if it is all rhetoric.

I'm not taking any chances... I filled mine out - the supposed $500.00 (fine) could be better used for a session or two. *lol*

A woman of my acquaintance had the job of following up on those who did not send in the form in the last census. Many tried to turn away the follow-uppers. Their instructions were to say that if they did not cooperate, the RCMP would come.

I do not know of any instnaces of the horsemen actually coming. Most people caved in and filled out the form.

I didn't say that I only used info here, I made this dession long before I started posting in this thread right??? Wow, you like make alot of assumptions. I said the same info that everyone has been given to read, between newspapers, websites, Stats Can themselves, etc.

So I have made up my mind and really I don't have to go through all the hassle have copying this links and this text from this paper, and that link from that site, just to attempt to prove a point to you that you are not going to listen to anyways. I am not Michael Moore.

KWI

BTW, I don't stocks. Another thing I will never do.
Hmm I didn't assume anything, you said the info "we'd all been given" and the only info I've been given is what is here on the thread.......and that extremely poor excuse for a website "countmeout" or whatever it is called.

Oh well, like I said, let us know how you make out. I'm curious as to whether they will fine you, arrest you, neither or both.

Thats what the government propaganda would like the ignorant public to believe...click here to read more about "Lockheed Martin" at http://countmeout.ca/
That site is full of garbage. If you believe that, I have some Florida swampland for you. As has been pointed out in other posts: Did StatsCan buy their software and/or equipment from Lockheed-Martin? Maybe, I don't know. But it's irrelevant. The Patriot Act has nothing to do with any of this because LM is not receiving the census data. That is all processed by StatCan employees in StatCan offices in CANADA. I know what is trying to be suggested, that under the Patriot Act, US Companies are rquired to report personal info that they obtain. This is, in fact, a legitimate issue with financial institutions that are outsourcing work to the States. But it has NOTHING to do with the census. This is how these conspiracy theories perpetuate themselves. They latch on to half-truths and irrelevant "facts" to try and present their argument. Except in this case they hold no water.

I too don't know exactly what the penalties are but for the 33.2 seconds it takes to fill out, why not just do it?

I mean really, what reason would you have NOT to?
The one they sent me was like a 50 page book... no way you can fill that out in 33 seconds. It's still sitting next to my toilet.

I spent 4 seconds putting it in the blue box and saved myself 29.2 seconds for right brain enjoyment.

I didn't say anything about not answering the census based on those questions. You asked what questions where there so I answered you. They can catch up with me all they want. I personally don't care. I am not and have not and will not answer the census. I know what is accessible via my returns for last year and prior to, that is not why I am not filling out this census.

Why does it burn you so much that I have made the choice not to fill out the form???? Because you may be limited on the number of bags of garage you get collected?????? Like I said, tell them I didn't fill it out Tboy, i personally couldn't give a rats ass.

KWI
The government makes decisions based on the census that directly affects you and everyone. How do you think the Feds decide how much $$ to allocate to health care or transfers to the provinces? How do you think they make decisions about social policy.

Every person that does not complete a census form costs the province of Ontario $2,000 per year in transfer payments. Not to mention the lack of resources that are needed for health care.

You may think that you are not hurting anyone by refusing to fill out the census, but the reality is that you are screwing us all.

Fill it out.

Apparently 6 people were sent though the court system for failure to fill out the forms last time.

Nice bit of info.
It's funny how the government always goes after it own citizens, but can't keep illegal aliens out of the country. They waste money tracking down people who didn't pick up a pen, but let criminals run rampent. How many pedophiles are running around stalking school children, but heaven forbid you don't fill out a little form.

From the stories on the TV lately, there are several thousand illegals here in Canada(tens of 1,000s in the States) but the government wants to procecute it's own citizens.

They want to know how many live in your house, yet they can't tell you where the sex offenders are living. Isn't the safety of OUR CHILDREN, wifes, girlfriends, mothers more important than a scrap of paper.

Dude, if 10 million didn't send it in that would be just shy of half the people in canada....let's not be overly dramatic shall we? (let's leave that to fabulous lol)

But then again, who knows how many people live in Canada? That info is garnered during a census!

Its not illegal to not answer your door or answer the phone. For the first time ever, this has been outsourced to an american company. Under the Patriot Act in the US, any US government agency can access your information regardless of the so called Canadian laws.
If you're going to go on a rant at least get your facts straight. The census was NOT outsourced to an American company. The software to do it was. The census is being done by Canadians and the results are not available to the American government.
