Aside from what is happening with Suncor/Petro Canada recently, its getting to be quite scary when it comes to payment systems being corrupted and targets of cyber attacks.
Two days ago, I made a $45 purchase from a local pharmacy. My debit card was 'declined' on the first attempt so I was prompted to try again nd it worked. Today, when I checked my account on line, I noticed that the $45 was charged twice. WTF!
So I had to make another trip to the pharmacy, bring the proof with me in order to get one of the charges reversed.
If I hadn't checked, I could have very well missed it and charged twice.
Anyone have any similar experiences or perhaps offer some insight in better protecting yourself. I know many will say to just pay cash but, unfortunately, we are evolving into a cashless society with many establishments already set up to be cashless only.
