There are many different stores and I know that frames vary in prices, but what about lens? I was talking to Hakim and he was saying that they have 3 qualities lens Zeiss that supposed to be the best and then I think diamond and a third one. I don't know what to believe. I don't know if glasses (lens) from city optical, walmart, hakim or lenscrafter are all the same or not. The Hakim store I went to a couple of times seemed like they were contradicting themselves, one said you need full rim glasses to have blue light protection another guy said I didn't.

GTA & Thereabouts...
Lenses would vary in price depending on whether they are a name brand or a knock-off. Coatings, material, type of prescription, etc. all play a roll on cost. You have to shop apples to apples.

Zeiss, Nikkor (Nikon) and Essilor are reputable name brands. Obviously the guy grinding the glass is pretty key.

Stay way from the shopping mall optical stores if you can. Lenscrafters and Pearle Vision are owned by Luxxotica Group. Don't expect deals from them. I've been considering either Warby Parker or Clearly Contacts for quite some time mainly because they're not owned by Luxxotica. Your eye doctor's office might be able get you a deal, but you have to deal with limited selection.

Had success ordering online from Zenni. Agree with Costco as well.

I've been reading of clearly contacts for a while, I see they have a TO store, I would prefer that rather than buying on line, but they're cheap alright.

I’ve bought glasses from my local for ~2,500 and from Clearly Contacts for a lot less. Clearly Contacts didn’t suck. I’ve had close friends go to Hakim and have regrets and others that liked Clearly Contacts.bit of a crap shoot, but check out the store on Queen St and get a better feel. Ask questions about quality etc.

I agree with your advice here, in particular Lenscrafters as one to avoid due to personal experience of unreliable workmanship versus high prices.

Dollarama, 1.25$, can see great but I think they are ruining my eyesight when not wearing them, can't see shit now. I need to wear progressives and they drive me crazy so I opted for the dollar store ones and go with the granny look.

I've gotten some really good deals, and glasses at Noble Optical @ Pacific Mall.
I don't buy designer frames, but always get thin, and coated lenses. Average price I've paid there is $100-$150... 3, or 4 day turn around

I use Nikon Master progressive lenses, and they’re fantastic - not much difference from single vision. I just go in and ask for the top of the line, whatever that happens to be. I get all the add ons, coatings etc. I don’t skimp where my eyesight’s concerned.
