I don't want to wait for our system to see a specialist. Takes forever. I want a complete pysical with particular attention to cardiac testing. I mean everything. What are the costs? Is it a good experience? Anyone recommend s clinic? Maybe in Buffalo

You can do this in Toronto. For yearly fees ranging from 2,000 to 5,000, you can join a private clinic that will do every possible test conceivable. Some of them not only have a battery of specialists in hand, they have partnerships with specialists across th eglobe and will share and discuss results so you truly have 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions with top notch talent. Most big companies offer this as an executive perk, but if you can afford it you're good to join on your own.

Google "executive private clinics Toronto" or some such and wade through the results.

Studies have shown that early detection can dramatically cut serious issues, including death. The problem with our system is that it's mostly reactive. These clinics run the entire battery every year and the proactive approach is much more effective at cutting ugly things off at the pass.

Studies have also shown that doing a bunch of unnecessary tests causes harm, due to overinvestigation of unimportant incidental findings. There are guidelines out there for screening for certain health conditions, and beyond that it's a waste of time and may make you sicker.

Dr. Hui in Toronto will do a complete checkup on you, and there will be no waiting list. Also a large part is covered by OHIP. An added bonus is he integrates conventional medicine with alternative medicine:

There's a clinic in Buffalo with a published rate card on their website. How would you know what tests to get done though? They have lots for cardiac screening.
