I drive to the states often. Don’t have to wait. Amazing. Well worth it
But if the bridge is packed going over either way you have to wait like everyone else until you get to the other side where the lanes open up to the booths.
And if the bridges aren't busy, I don't mind waiting the 10-15 minutes. Nexus still not worth it.

It shouldn't be called the trusted traveler program since they ask you the same questions as they would in regular line. There is no "trust" exactly in the traditional sense of the meaning. If they really trusted me, they wouldn't to be asking me who I am meeting, why am I going there, why am I going so early, looking in the hood of my car and in the trunk etc..( yes these all were asked and done under nexus, and i'am white guy with no unusual names)

Therefore, the reason it's faster isn't because you're a trusted traveler, but because people without nexus can't use those lanes, and therefore it's less of a line up. I find it's most effective when crossing by vehicle due to the dedicated lane. At the airport i find it to be effectively useless with few exceptions, because regardless of when you get in through a regular lane or Nexus lane, you still have to wait at the gate so everybody will still leave at same time. The exception is if you are somebody who comes 40 min before a flight,( if you are a last minute type of person) I suppose you have that option where you can last minute everything knowing you have nexus and don't have to wait with other homo sapiens and talk about the raptors/maple leafs and the shitty 401 traffic. (You know who you are... don't get me started on crying kids in line.)

The other exception, if it can be called as such, you might feel like it's faster, and if you're a "feel" type of person, this will at least give you the impression that you saved time and that will be good enough to justify having it. (Think of people who gamble at casino regularly, but then get "free" rooms. They already paid for those rooms and then some through endless gambling, but enough time has passed and they feel like you are getting a free room and that's good enough for them)

It gets better.
ALL the US territories. Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii and all parts in between you get a nexus line. Sweet bonus that you don’t realize at the time until you find it.

Having Nexus will give you access to TSA Precheck at any US airport. Although you have to be sure the airline knows, so it appears on your boarding pass. When I travel through some busy airports especially during events like March Break or Homecoming it can be quite the time saver. Many Americans don't have access to that line, so security is backed up and Precheck is a few minutes to get through.

This is the benefit I get most often as a frequent US traveller.

I just flew back to Toronto through another Canadian city, my travel partner from work did not have a Nexus and we "raced" through the security as a test. I was in the lounge and had dinner and a few drinks before they even got checked into the lounge. about 25 minutes extra in line for them. and it wasn't that busy.
Is it worth it? we ended up on the plane at the same time, but while they were waiting in line and getting patted down, I was enjoying a burger and a few beers.

Ya. All these upbeat stories are illustrating why I applied for a nexus card. Just wasn't expecting to wait another 18 months after they told me I was approved. Making total wait for card 3 years. Something wrong with this picture.

Hawaii is a US state not a territory.

This and in the larger airports in Canada for domestic travel you can leave laptop, liquids, etc., in your carry on bag. So easy. We got them years ago for my whole family and regret nothing. At the time we were able to book the interview for both Canada and US in Fort Erie ON. Just waited in the office while one county handed us off to the other. No idea if it still applies there.

Renewals have been easy all online card just comes in the mail

This...a godsend to frequent flyers but for those who only visit relatives once twice a year....don't even bother....now my question is....don't they h ave nexus kiosk (US side) by the borders in niagara falls?
Yes they do, also in Fort Erie. Knew some people who did their interviews for Can. and then went over to the US side for that interview. Sometimes Can & US interviews done on the Can. side in Fort Erie.
