One thing I could never figure out about drifting: ever since man invented the automobile they've been striving for better and better traction. Then along comes this "sport" which is all about breaking that traction....

To me, this is like going to a club and NOT trying to hook up with a girl.....

Go Figure......

I agree, I like staying in control, hate that wiping out feeling.

But these young people ALWAYS have to be different :p So no surprise many like it.

When we were but crazy youth we would take the cars out on the ice build up speed then put them into a spin.

Thats being out of control.

Pray you don't hit a pressure crack sideways.

If you ever watched that discovery channel program "canada's worst driver" Cam Wooley (OPP sargent) said during one episode: We found that a lot of people who live outside the city in the rural areas that used to do donuts in the snow, rarely lose control of their vehicles during a snowstorm. We found a direct correlation between "practicing" by doing dunuts for fun, and avoiding control loss.......

Remember snagging==graping the back of a car bumper during a snow storm and hanging on till you fell off :p

Recall a few kids who got ran over by a car behind them, then all the drivers got pissed off if they seen you riding their bumper.

That would be correct. Ladbrookes will pay out Wednesday.

We never lost any through the ice but another group that we sometimes drove with did.

If you hit a pressure crack you were in for a wild ride.

Good times.

Everytime I get a new (to me anyways) vehicle, on the first slippery snowfall I head out to a vacant parking lot and get a feel for how it will handle in winter. And each winter (whether it's the first one for that vehicle or not) I occasionally test to see whether the limit I think is safe is still well under what the actually limit is (whether it's braking, turning or starting). That way I haven't (so far) found myself in trouble.

And I did grow up in the country so maybe that has something to do with it. :)
