You need to read his original post 5 more times. Perhaps he needs to put in bold and large fonts "He sucked out on the turn"
Ask yourself why would he be so traumatised after winning a hand and give up poker for the rest of his life.

My question is: why did he show his cards at all? Poker players rarely show losing hand even after the river. And you were required to show your hand first (since he called you), so, after he see you have the winning hand, he does not have to show his cards (and, again, almost noone shows his cards in his situation). Also, after no more action is possible (all people are all in and called), any player can show his cards: he does not need a permission from others.
He won the hand.

Yeah I was thinking something similar. Bad beats are part of poker. It happens all the time, especially in lower stakes because people will play anything and luck out here and there.

I can see where Phil is coming from. When he moved all in I would have put him on something higher than my pair of 10's. Tom got extremely lucky. But hey that's poker.
Where Phil was wrong was saying ok we'll see where you are in 5 years.
Well its 13 years later and Dwan is still a successful poker pro having won over $3 million in career live earnings.

Vegas was my debut, due to it I have started to love casino games and also to play them. I have read some books about them, talked to some professionals as I wanted to master my skills in this field. However, as I like to travel, I play more online than offline, so I always look for the Best online casinos which don't have the purpose to fool me. It is quite hard in the beginning, but then you develop your instincts, and things get much easier.

I'm an online player. I consider myself a decent player, as I pretty much break even. Ill be up 40 bucks one day and down 40 bucks the next. I can't seem to break that line of being a constant winner. Anybody here that constantly wins?
Play bigger stakes .. Too many bad players playing lower limits and having too wide of a range calling hands.
Focus on limiting how may tables you play at one given time so you can get better reads.

YES! this if you can't adjust and beat the micro stakes move up in stakes for sure!!! I suggest you move up to 500nl at the minimum, atleast there they will respect ur raises...

Yeah I've often wondered this regarding the higher stakes, because crazy what players will call and play in the micros. What I find even more crazy in the micros isn't so much what they call on pre-flop, it's the post flop calling. I can't even tell you how many times I raise pre-flop with a premium hand like AA villain calls with something like A7 OS. Flop comes and it's like 6, 8, 9 so I'll move all in to protect my AA and they call despite the fact they've missed the flop and then they hit their 5 or 10 on the river. That's real crazy part about the micros.

Many people ask questions like, how do I start playing poker? It's straightforward. You need to learn simple rules, combinations, and general terminology.
plus you practice with the play money on sites like Poker Stars just to get a bit of a feel for it.

The break-even claim in online poker seems unrealistic to me, sorry. All gambling games are built on such a mechanism that you should win and lose approximately the same. I would rather believe that you have the ability to control yourself and stop when the game gets dangerous. Gambling is always about luck, and very rarely about calculations. I've been playing poker for a while, but for me, it's more than just a game. It's acting and math, and impersonating someone else all the time makes me tired. When I get bored with poker, I bet on online slots https://biggreenweek.com/.

I cant see how poker games on line can not be fixed. There is no way to see under the hood. Slot machines in vegas where famous for being fixed - not so much you don't win at all but no where near the payouts promised.

Ignoring the house cheating here one such example

On line is so easy to cheat. They can create fake winners that are really employees to speed there gospel. Again, like Bernie Madoff you have to give out some money to keep the whales.

They could be honest but some must be dishonest .

That being said, most gambling games can be beaten by skill. The problem is that being "good" is considered cheating and your be banned from a Casino. Casinos don't let winners play for very long - as a hobby you can hit the Casinos once a year, walk a way with a bit of change - repeat - but only if you change Casinos and stay stupid officially.

You seem to be saying thins that do not ad up "Gambling is always about luck, and very rarely about calculations. I've been playing poker for a while, but for me, it's more than just a game. It's acting and math, and impersonating someone else all the time makes me tired. "

Is the math that makes the game a skill - without the player element. The games as you said, without the people element are far harder to do well, and are probably cheating both legally and illegally. For example, you could have a black jack game on line with not 8 decks but 800 decks which then does make it just luck and one that is stacked against you. Unless you counter with a computer program - which if the game is fair makes victory assured, pushing you losses to the other players.

None of which is illegal so even a fair game is rigged. Off the top of my head I can think of over 20 exploits that are legal (thought if the terms of service are really good, against the rules of the game)

If it is fair North Korea proably have poker miners as we speak which they have in many other on line games - its one North Korea's major industries.

I’ve played over 6000 tournaments online at Pokerstars for low stakes and did fairly well during a 7 period.
