As mention in another thread, I like to go fishing. I find it relaxing and there is nothing really like fighting a fish at the end of your line. There is an excited about having a fish on.

I mainly fish for bass as that is the easiest on my kayak. I plan on getting a new muskie rod. My neighbour at my trailer as a boat so we go out often and I use his but I need to grab my own. Anyone got suggestions, I am open to feedback.

I fish the Kawartha's, I know that is vague, but I don't need you horny bastards coming up to my lake looking for the chick fishing in a kayak and a bikini since I am the only one you will find. LOL

So any other anglers out there? Wear do you fish, what do you like to fish for?

I wouldn't mind getting into some river fishing. Not with my yak, but of the shoreline. That is a whole different ball game though. LOL

I love fishing. I was actually in the Kawarthas earlier this summer on a houseboat and did a lot of fishing. I usually go for bass, pike and walleye. I don’t have the gear for muskie although I did see some cruising below the boat. I haven’t had any luck catching walleye on Pigeon or Buckhorn (and I’ve really tried).

I have a lot of bass lures (jigs, spinners, chatterbaits) but I think the best is a green senko (Yamamoto’s are my favourite). I like to fish them wacky rigged with an O ring but the Kawarthas can be pretty weedy so sometimes your forced to texas rig ‘em.

My favourite outdoor activity is fishing the Maitland River or the Saugeen River for rainbow trout and the occasional brown trout in the fall. With the cooler weather, the male copulation reflex kicks in and the bows swim up the Lake Huron tributary rivers to spawn. No one knows why they do this, because their true spawn occurs in the days following ice out in Spring. I generally like to use a 4 or 6 wt nine foot rod with a reel of weighted fly ine with a long leader. The fly used will depend on what I find when I run a small screen through the bottom of the river. When in doubt, a black wooly bugger never fails. The catch usually weighs about 5 lbs (20 inches) or more. I usually let most of the catch go, but keep two of the smaller fish for the pan.
Since the weather is generally temperamental in the fall, one never knows whether the fishing day will be beautiful or cloudy or rainy or snowy or foggy. These factors determine the type of cast one will make. I generally wade, using my old-fashioned Canadian Tire camo waders, carefully in the rivers, looking for odd shore terrain, undercuts or possible deep pools.
In the last few years, as I age, I always bring a buddy, since I have dunked a few times in the past. While the subsequent floating quickly down the river may be exhilarating and awe-inspiring, my sense of personal survival grows with each passing day.
I usually go out very early on a weekday, rarely on weekends. Hence, I avoid the weekend clowns, yahoos and little kids and I get the solitude of the river all to myself.

I did some salmon fishing up in the mouth in Port Credit a few years ago, and man, that was some fishing. It was cold as hell, in late fall if I remember correctly. We were out all night but I finally landed a 33 lbs female. It took me a half hour to get it in. LOL

I use to fish for trout with my dad up in Whitevale I think it is called. As well as in the Rouge. That is about all the river fishing experience I have.

I’ll be looking forward to fall this year. I will be doing the same, I try to fish during the week so I don’t have to deal with weekend crowds.

I caught 15 speckled trout in an hour on one occasion. Somewhere in the deep woods of Quebec, it was the last week in May when the trout season opened and we were eager to catch fish after a long hard winter. When we arrived at the lake there were actually van sized chunks of ice still floating in the water. We fished all day without a nibble. It was close to 6 P.M. when we first got a double header. ( both fishermen get a fish on the line at the same time ) every second cast we were catching a fish. Mostly half pound fish but a few 3/4 and 1 pound trout. I looked on the map when I got home. The spot we were fishing was at a place where a stream of warmer water from a shallow lake on top of a hill was sending its water. My guess is that the fish hung around the place where the warm water entered the lake to keep warm. Or it may be that food for the fish was attracted by the warmer water as well.

I’ve been fishing on Stoney for 40 yrs. kind of burned out from it about 10 yrs ago. Nowadays I’d just as soon canoe around a few bays and flip for largemouths. Musky fishing is great not it’s 100s of hours of fishing per decent fish.

I did it!!!!

I got the damn 5 pounder small mouth I have been trying for since the beginning of the summer.

Rented a boat this weekend so thankfully it was not kayak fishing or that damn thing would have been pulling me all over the hole.

hahahahahaha

No Muskie though. Which sucked but there is always next weekend.

I thought about that. LOL.

Unfortunately, is it not acceptable for public viewing due to discretion of myself and the others with me. So you will just have to take my word for it.;)

Take it to the next level, hook up with a nice walleye or pike from a paddleboard and they will pull you around the lake, it's a blast you can pack some food a couple of beers crank some tunes and bring a bag for the keepers, plus it beats sitting on your ass for three hours .

Pics or it didn't happen! Surely you can photo shop the people to hide their identities?

For some reason bigger pike are hard to revive, are the big ones edible?

Connecticut woman hooks 'monster' pike, tying 40-year-old record

A Connecticut woman taught her kids a thing or two about fishing when she hooked a huge pike during a recent angling adventure.

Leslie Slater was fishing by kayak with her family in Colebrook's West Branch Reservoir when she reeled in the impressive catch, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection reported on Wednesday.
