Man hangs off of back of truck on QEW
WTF.

I mean, seriously. How did he "jump" off this moving vehicle? Or did the truck slow down/stop before he took off? I can't imagine it would be fun to drop to the asphalt from a vehicle going 100KM/H, especially in a live traffic lane....

Early 70's, in Quebec, during the winter, a kid's fad was "bumper hitching". They would crouch down, (ass close to the ground), and hold on to the rear bumper of a school bus, when there was snow/ ice on the road, and 'water ski' along the road. The bus never traveled faster than about 10 MPH in that kind of weather, and it made frequent stops.

Of course, the participants had to rely on eye witness testimony that they had performed the stunt, because nobody had cell phones, but almost no one was ever caught, because few adults can outrun a little kid, and it's really difficult to identify a specific kid when he's wearing a toque and a scarf covering the lower part of his face.

Seems pretty relaxed as well - looks like he is looking down on his phone. Cool, calm and an idiot. Makings of a winner so far.

You only qualify for a Darwin Award if you remove yourself from the gene pool (i.e. die). Since this guy is still alive, he doesn't qualify.

Called "pogey riding" in WNY. Vehicles had (now outlawed) tire chains and residential streets were seldom if ever salted. Fact is, we were insane at that age...

Irreparable damage to one's junk, or castration, qualifies as well, as those meet the first condition.
Interesting theory, but I believe official rules state the Darwin award is always posthumous...

In Canada, 'pogey' means government unemployment insurance, often in connection with unionized seasonal work. For example, some auto manufacturing plants were closed during the winter every year, and reopened when it was time to assemble the new year's models.
