What is happening in College Street is why some (many, most, all?) people don't want bars in their neighbourhood.

A 24 year old American man visiting our fair city was brutally murdered last night after leaving the Blind Tiger bar.

Back on July 1, 2016 there was a double murder at at another bar in College Street.

Then there was that Italian mob hit at the ice cream patio a while back.

There are probably many other incidents but these are the ones that quickly come to mind.

I think the density of bars in Carleton is much lower than College so less bar murders in Carleton. Less bars less murders in bars.

Another dangerous street now is the Danforth (no its not the Greeks there).

When will those people of little italy step up and take ownership of the problem in their community? Round em up and send em back to Italy. They gorify the mob and this is what we get.

Yes. I will give the Italian mob credit for hitting their intended target and innocent bystanders rarely get hurt. They do not go to Yonge Street and the Eaton Centre and spray the area with bullets.

The problems on College /Little Italy are not primarily Italian driven just like the double murder in Chinatown is not Chinese drive just like the violence on the Danforth is not Greek driven.

Not sure you can use one mob hit vs one black teen shooting as solid evidence of the efficiency of mob hits. I think it is a dangerous stereotype to think black gangs are just teens with no brains or skills. Many of these gangs are far more sophisticated and have far reaching businesses beyond the areas you would expect. For example, there are crip gangs that are dealing drugs in suburbs of the GTA. They are doing it pretty discretly too because it's not like you have a bunch of black dudes hanging out on a street corner in a well to do suburb.

But please see the part where I said I was joking. Of course crimes can happen in a neighbourhood by an ethnic group that is not known for that area.

A very sad and tragic case. I really hope the police get the perps. It is highly unlikely they will get away with it as there are all kinds of surveillance cameras in that area. If there are innocent parties in that group, they should do the smart thing and rat out their scumbag friends.

Yes its very rare to die in hand combat, but occassionally it does happen.

I also hate it that it puts Toronto in a bad light when these things happen.
The family of the victim probably hates Torontonians/Canadians now, and I cant blame them
