I too am interested in an anonymous prepaid CC but, Visa and Mastercard do not offer credit cards. Financial institutions do. I think Shoppers, Walmart etc sells such cards and you can use them anywhere. Am I correct?

Visa sells prepaid visa - whatever the amount is purchased , u do lose 3% I believe

that's correct.. you can use them anywhere except for deposits (holds) and recurring payment systems (they'll decline) otherwise, accepted almost anywehre

If you need a pre-paid card that functions ENTIRELY like a credit card (but prepaid) money mart offers those .. but they need your ID and stuff, so it's not really anonymous

I just bought a 100$ "gift" card at shoppers. The cashier activates it. Are they good for internet purchases? That is where I want to use them. I do not trust giving out info on the net. The downside is if you get ripped off visa will not reimburse you

I use Vanilla prepaid Mastercard, very easy, use it for my paypal account, fake name, no problems.

As someone else mentioned, won't work for recurring payments though

My prepaid VISA has an expiry date embossed right on the card. Not sure if the card will actually expire on the stated date and I lose the remaining balance.

Word of advice, Shoppers Drug prepaid cards are no good, most are fraudulent. I have had too many embarrassing issues with cards I purchased at Shoppers, scammers steal the cards open the envelopes and copy the number from the card, they then place the card back in cover the scratch sticker ( purchased easily online) and return them back to the store. They then wait for someone to load them as soon as they do the money gets withdrawn.... always check that the receipt matches the number on the card. Open the card at the store and ensure they match, then hold the reciept. Shoppers will only exchange fraudulent cards with Shoppers gift cards... So be careful

Yes prepaid cards expire. No the funds are not generally transferable to a new card. There used to be a 3v VISA card that allowed you to but they’re not around anymore. The best prepaid cards to buy are VANILLA. Convenience stores are the best place to purchase them as there’s lesser chance of the above scam occurring. It doesn’t really matter if it’s Visa or MasterCard, the only difference is in the monetary increments. When I have multiple cards left with only a few dollars left on each, I purchase something at a clothing store. They’re usually patient in putting through various charges on separate cards. If I’m near the expiry date and have a lot left, I put the remaining amount minus a few cents onto my Bell account. The bill is taken care of for the next month. Any online transaction that rejects prepaid cards, I use PayPal instead and add the prepaid cards to my PayPal wallet.
