"Cancer is not an excuse"... sounds like a really horrible boss to me.
He must have truly pushed his team over the edge for them to pull that kind of stunt which is potentially damaging to thier own reps as employees. The boss sounds like an A+ creep though.

A better solution would have been to appeal to labor boards or the corporation itself and have penalties, reprimands or more applied to the Boss douche. Some form of formal protest as opposed to the letter which indicates an outright meltdown.

Having a store manager, a co-manager and a key holder quit all at the same time shows that it is the owner who is at fault here.
Without knowing the facts, you cannot say this with certainty.

Really? Employees are abused and it can come back and bite the employees in the ass? Guess again. This could bite the owner in the ass as he may find he can't get employees to work for him anymore, or at least not good ones.
Imagine if you were the employee, and I was the manager. You have gotten me into a lot of shit, you have made the store look bad and cost it business. Imagine if the manager was vindictive and found out where these three employees got work after they left. The manager can tell their new employers that they may expect the same if the employees became disgruntled or may incite other employees to do the same as they did. Right or wrong, this manager can make their lives hell.

Even an over-the-top shitty boss knows to keep their mouth shut once this has hit the news in a big way. The rebuttal is hearsay from some pal of Jamie's. The "answer" was essentially a denial. Not a terribly plausible one I'd say - I can't really see your entire workforce walking off the job en masse for made-up reasons. Oh! Plus there was an accusation that the employees stole from the store, which is less, errrr, crazy unlikely. Employees steal shit, especially when they hate their fecking boss.

No clue? really. Seems you are the one who believes the sign. I'm reserving judgement on the boss, as there is no proof one way or another.

There is proof that the employees are unprofessional and interested in damaging the boss's and store's reputation.

Imagine that you were the CEO of the chain. Imagine the bad publicity over this whole interwebz kerfuffle. Now imagine that manager of that particular store out on her ass looking for work alongside her ex-employees. Duh.
