He is the 5th major league baseball player to die accidentally in recent years. Maybe there are more. Cory Lidle in a plane crash and 3 Cleveland Indians in a boating accident are the other 4. Years ago Thurman Munson and Roberto Clemente died accidentally. Did Elston Howard also die accidently? Of course, former baseball player and manager Billy Martin died in a car crash.

Two Cleveland ballplayers were killed in that boating accident (1993) the other player injured.
Tim Crews and Steve Olin died,
Bob Ojeda survived the accident.

Elston Howard died of heart disease.
Darryl Kile, heart disease.
Steve Belcher, heat stroke.
Josh Hancock, drunk driving.
Mike Sharperson, car accident.
Mike Darr, car accident.
Dernell Stenson, murdered.
Miquel Del Toro, car accident.

77 Major Leauge ball players have died while active, from such different methods as suicide, murder, plane and car accidents to typhoid fever, and tuberculosis.

Not to be morbid but I wonder how baseball compares with other sports or occupations. I also noticed in the Baseball Hall of Fame quite a few passed before their 50th birthday.

I don't watch much baseball anymore, but I decided to watch the games that were on HD through the Sports Pak last night, including the Angels-A's game.

Had never heard of the kid before, but he was pitching pretty well and I was impressed... I fell asleep during the game.... and then at work around noon today I see the name come up that he has died. Just the sequence of events as I saw them, just made me realize how sudden it can all be.

RIP.

Angels have had their share of tragedies.

Earlier this week, a 27-year-old fan died after being assaulted at Angel Stadium on opening day.

Infielder Chico Ruiz and rookie pitcher Bruce Heinbechner were killed in car accidents in the early 1970s, as was shortstop Mike Miley in 1977. The following year, star outfielder Lyman Bostock was shot and killed during the offseason in Gary, Ind.

In 1989 - three years after giving up a home run to Boston's Dave Henderson that kept the Angels from winning the AL pennant - reliever Donnie Moore shot his wife and then killed himself.

I remember the Moore incident. He was never the same after the Henderson homer.

Life is strange that way. An unusually large number of Montreal Canadiens died from cancer at relatively young ages. An unusually large number of the old Brooklyn Dodgers died at a relatively young age. For example, I remember Gil Hodges passing at age 48. Fate is indeed fickle.

Angels put on a very nice tribute before their game against the Red Sox last night. They had his number and photo on the outfield wall, his number 34 on the back of the pitchers' mound and they played a short video on the jumbo screen. Both teams lined up along their respective baselines for a moment of silence.

The driver of the vehicle has now been charged with three counts of murder, along with other felonies. He is facing a possible 55 years in prison.

Not to be forgotten are two other people also killed by the same driver in this incident. 3 lives needlessly lost because of an idiot drunk driver. He should get life in prison.

Along with the families of these victims, whose lives have been torn apart by such an act.

feed the p...k to the Angels

as is so often the case the puspimple who killed them is a useless, worthless
piece of s..t

If I had my way I'd throw him into the Angels' locker room&lock the door.

what's left of him could serve the 55 yrs.
