Yes, they do. You need to use a VPN, though. Access to some torrents is getting more and more complicated.

Do these Android boxs still work,Im tired of my satelite.
Had mine for a bunch of years. Still works fine for the most part.

I use Kodi for movies and shows. And an App called Mobdro for live tv. As I only use it for CP24, other news, and these stations that are continuously running movies under genre and shows by name commercial free it's good enough.

It has sports as well and several USA, Canadian and world channel, quality is hit or miss.

I bought the box for forty and a mini keyboard for twelve. Four years later.....

If you are fussy about reliability and picture quality it's not for you. I watch little so the $4,000 in savings was far better for me.

I don't use a VPN.

You should install kodi on your computer and checkout some addons first, thats all an android box is.
There is a subreddit called /r/Addons4Kodi usually has up to date addons, where to get them, and how to install guides.

There is no need for a vpn unless you are using peer-to-peer (which some addons use), if you are direct downloading/streaming there is no need to hide your ip.

Most android boxes are built from shit hardware and sold as what software comes with it, which btw is all free and can easily be installed yourself.
One recommendation is to grab a Raspberry pi 4 and install LibreELEC which is a kodi only OS that utilizes hw decoding, which in fact can play 4k x265 videos well.

If you want free tv, you can install KODI as others have suggested. However, You can also subscribe to an IPTV provider for about $15 a month and receive well over 7,000 channels. Works great with my Nvidia Shield box.

thanks,im not a big tv watcher so it sounds perfect for me.canceling my satelite today.
I would also suggest getting Kodi for your computer first and trying it out(great for vacation watching too,p). Then Google "top ten Kodi add-ons" and they give exact instructions to install them( it's a bit trying up front but then it's done. Occasional redos needed)

I have both a amazon firestick and a android box. The firestick (which is also android) has a way better remote, its bluetooth and you don't need to point at the device. But the android box has more ports and the capabilities to add more space, you can with the firestick too, but you need to buy all kinds of wires and its a mess. For the person using the satellite you may able to get 20 channels using your dish as a antenna.

I would assume most people trying to watch TV / movies would be looking for Kodi or something similar

When you see those red and white signs for tv for 15 bucks a month those are usually android box based tv services. Kodi based stuff i find is more for people who like to tinker or update. Flea markets sometimes have people selling boxes and monthly services. A while back hillcrest mall had a store rented out by tv resellers....red rhino or spmethung like that. Can find people on kijiji as well.

You don't need VPN, you use one if you want, but install KODI and add some addons like Exodusredue or Venum there are tons of them, porn too you can install apps like IPTV smarters or STB emulator and get tv channels too, even in KODI you can get free channels you can order one from aliexpress, cheap.

I use my Nvidia Shield android box with Kodi installed, three years now and never had an issue. It updates the Kodi app automatically. I use Venum and Tempest add-ons for TV and movies. I use a VPN.

Cynalan, what IPTV service do you use?

I've been using Amazon FireTV for more than a year and I'm very pleased with it. There is a ton of kodi apps that allow to access a huge library of movies and tv shows (I'm currently using Cinema app). By the way, I found a list of the most popular apps https://www.firesticktricks.com/best-kodi-addons.html, maybe it will be helpful for you. And you can easily choose a proper IPTV service (some of them are free like Pluto TV).
