Between Oakville and Oshawa
I think its an easier transition for this Italian kid to play in Toronto than in other NBA cities because of Toronto's large Italian community.
He has much less pressure to perform, because he can buy a big house in Woodbridge and in case he can't play basketball it will be very easy for him to find a job doing pattern concrete driveways.

He'll easily buy a new home....cash, fully paid, but he'll have trouble collecting workers comp.

Did we really draft some Blind Italian opera singer????

IMO, i just have to say this years draft was quite boring. Not just cuz of the players but there was also no big trades going down. The best part of it has to be when the Knicks were picking. lol

One of CNNSI's "experts" say next to Marcus Williams to the Nets, P.J. Tucker to Toronto is the steal of the draft.

If you haven't already, read ESPN's Bill Simmons' Draft Diary. Hillarious!

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060629

Some of the highlights:

7:41 -- Our first challenge: Stu Scott interviewing Bargnani without an interpreter working for either side. This is fun. Bargnani sounds exactly like Furio on "The Sopranos."

Hey, did you know that Morrison's favorite DVD is "Ultimate Fighting," his favorite book is "The Art of War," he listens to Metallica when he works out and he cried when Rage of the Machine broke up. I just learned all of those things in the last 20 seconds. Sounds like he needs a girlfriend.

8:00 -- Atlanta keeps its promise and drafts Shelden Williams fifth. By the way, I wish the WNBA draft had promises, just so we could see a team break a promise and draft someone else, followed by the crying player awkwardly running up to the podium in high heels and screaming, "You promised! You promised me! I TRUSTED YOU!"

And my personal favourite:
9:51 -- During the Marcus Williams interview, ESPN chickens out from running a "MUST IMPROVE: KLEPTOMANIA" graphic.

Tucker IMHO is the steal of this draft. Look at the numbers. His numbers are better than Aldridge his draft stock took a hit because of his height but he outperformes Aldridge in all major categories - ppg, rebounds (even though he's 6 inches shorter) minutes and he's a 66% 3 point shooter. Hell of a pick up.

As for Bargnani -we'll have to wait. Is it fair for him to be compared to Nowitzski...no...or to Darko -hell no. Darko never saw the floor with Detroit. Plus as with most European players Bragnani plays below the rim, not above it. If he can draw out an opposing center on offense, it'll give TO a chance on the glass. Plus a 7 foot power forward isn't really a bad thing.

I remember from previous drafts that one player was too young, too skinny (that was Bosh) one was a total waste ridiculed by evrybody on ESPN (that was Villanueva). Let's see if Colangelo's magic is still working.

Have you ever watched the Longhorns play? First off those stats are ridiculous, he is not a 66% 3pt shooter because he has made only 3 attempts all season and made 2 of them. The 2 things he brings to the table are his ability on the glass and his tough defense. Yes he was probably the best player for the Horns but remember, college physical statures are less demanding than that of the NBA.

lets hope so, he's known for his offensive glass ability but another downside is that he can be a little selfish and a bit of a headcase. If he can really get his emotions intact he will become a great defensive burst off the bench.

The raps have the softest front court in the NBA

Bosh is not a great defender

CV can't defend

and AB was not known for his defence

now we have a bunch of 7 footers who can't defend and can barely rebound as a team

Btw Rasho is know as the marshmellow man in San Antonio

We need defense and rebounding...or hope to score 110pts per game

AB = Darko or Dirk? only time will tell...if he had Bosh's work ethic...then I will be happy

of course we have three 7 footers with no low post presence

I like Larry Brown but he only coaches teams that are already winners...

In this case, when I said Rick Adellman...The guy coached the Kings for like 8 years...That's loyalty...Also another plus with this guy is that he coached the Kings out of a shithole team into a playoff team every year(much like the Mavs have done lately, without the NBA finals)...Also, I don't know if Sam Mitchell has the kind of plays that a guy with Adellman's experience can draw up...for example: I don't know if Sam Mitchell can draw a good play up like a Pat O'Riely or Avery Johnson for the last play of the game if you have a chance to win...

I wondered the same thing... as a player he seemed to have a very good understanding of the game, and he had a pretty long playing career.... I think that his troubles is not the Xs and Os... it's coaching his players to run the plays that he draws up or getting them to commit to playing how he wants them to play...

Charlie V has been traded to the Bucks for TJ Ford....
