Is this guy any good?

I have not followed the draft at all so I have no clue who these people are.

well...If he is a bust then chances are the Raptors will have the top shot at picking Greg Oden or Kevin Durant next year...lol

I think the Italian is going to be a great player 2 years out... Rookie season may present challenges for him though...I do think he's a good kid(not goin to hop on a motorcycle for instance haha) that will work very hard to improve involving the gym and defense/low post moves...His shooting is already going to be around the top of the Raptors...

The question is: will the Raptors start this guy next year....

This season looks to be one of interest coming into it...

Marcus Williams is still on the board and I see that one team is looking to trade their pick....We should make an effort to pick him up from Seattle...Seriously...

I don't mind if it takes him 2 years to develop, as long as he has the potential to get there. Don Nelson was ridiculed for using a lottery pick on Dirk Nowitzki and it got worse when Dirk had a rough rookie season. But after 2-3 years Dirk settled in and though I think he is horribly overrated, he did become a really good player.

I didn't think Bargnani was the best pick, but now that it is done, I don't absolutely hate it. It's a gamble, for sure, but an interesting one. Time will tell.

I was hearing on the radio that the Italian League is on par or better than NCAA Division 1, and Bargnani played well.

I still think that there is a deal in the works for a starting PG.... We picked up two big guys in trades, we already have Bosh and CV, Petersen.....

Projected starters: Nesterovic, Bosh, CV, Petersen and Calderone!!!! I am not a basketball genius, but I see a major weakness in this starting lineup...

I definately smell another trade coming. I mean our front court is now stacked. Then again we are under the cap so we might just go out and sign someone to fill the back court. I trust Colangelo...we'll see.

MoPete will be gone. It seems Joey Graham is ready to fill the 2 spot so the word is that MoPete is going to be shopped around for that PG that Colangelo wants

The Europeans as far as I see it are work horses. There is not alot of enthusiasm or flair, and for that I don't like this pick. But like previous posters stated, you have to trust the big guy in charge. After all it is his life's work, and I am just a guy that tunes in for the last 5 minutes.

I thought the score said PJ was a forward not guard.

Don't know a thing about the guy.

But as for AB. I'd have preferred Lamarcus but what are you going to do.

Now I wonder does BC plan on keeping this guy AB or trading him..... or trading someone else. Thankfully the role of CV and AB don't overlap too much since I heard BC is thinking about trading CV.

Anyways, I think we need to let the boy play and see what happens. On the up side he's only 18 which means he can get better and he's not in a pressure situation to produce right away since with nesterovic and bosh the c and pf positions are solid.

Could a big guy like AB play the 3 spot? Not to start but I think it might be interesting that if he is fast enough we try him out at the 3,4,5 spot in limited doses to give him some game time here and there to let him develop.

I wonder what his B ball IQ is like.

Anyways, I'm not happy about the pick but when they listed BC's accomplishments with Phoenix over the last 11 years and his success with drafting you gotta stand back and let the guy work.

Let's hope the Magician doesn't do a disappearing act. :)

Bargnani's 20. He played an exhibition game against the Raptors when he was 18, two years ago in preseason.

sorry sorry my mistake i mistoke Tucker for Daniel.

Well i've watched Tucker a lot the problem is, he is not NBA size calibre. He's a hard worker but at 6'5 225lb playing as a small forward in Texas. He's very athletic and works the floor very well. again size is going to be a problem for this guy because at 6'5 he should be at least a 2 guard. He doesn't have perimeter shooting ability but he does have hardnose defense. Another issue is that he missed all of his freshmen year due to injury and he just played 1 college season as a sophmore.

Well he could turn out to be Darko or he could turn out to be Dirk. It took Dirk a few years so who knows maybe Darko and Andreas will be the same.

I'm still convinced Darko will be a very good pro. Now that he's in Orlando, I think he'll establish himself quite well. After moving to the Magic, he averaged nearly 8 ppg and over 4 rpg in just and average of 20 minutes playing time, in what was essentially his rookie year given he had never averaged more than 7 minutes per game prior to the trade.
I predict he'll win the most improved player award next season averaging over 15 ppg and 7-8 rpg.

The word about the draft was that it was a solid draft, not spectacular. Few All-Stars, but a lot of eventual starters. Bargnani will be a starter one day, and more than any of the others, he has the most potential to become a star.
Admittedley, if Babcock was making that pick, I might be bemoaning it, but if Bryan says it is so, than so it shall be, as far as I'm concerned.

I'd be stunned if MoPete is traded. The Raps have a very young team and need veteran leadership that won't rock the boat. MoPete is that guy that's already here. He has a good contract cap-wise, and its also expiring so if the Raps have the option to move him at the deadline where I think he'd be much sought-after. Mo loves Toronto, commands respect among his young teammates and works hard setting the right example. The Raps can't afford to move him unless it's part of a package that knocks their socks off. But again, if Bryan Colangelo decides to trade him, I will bow to his expertise.
