Not likely to happen. France and Germany are natural (if not traditional) allies. Merkel is furious at Trump. You don't cross Mutter without consequences.

Don't know whom Der Stahl Canchellor detests more, Donald Trump or Theresa May? Merkel took extreme exception to May calling for a hard Brexit, English arrogance knows no bounds, in her election call. Mutter must have had a good gloating.

Chancellor Merkel was not happy that Theresa May readily put peace in Northern Ireland at risk, just to stay in power. After their handshake, you could almost hear Merkel say "get the fuck out of my sight".

They escaped Germany to get away from maniacs like her. Ethic German Americans are loyal Americans and served honourably in the American military in war and peace.
Germans started migrating to the USA en masse not long after the War of 1812. The Napoleonic wars left the fractured Duchies of Germany in a deplorable state, the USA was their land of hope. They fought with distinction for the Union during the Civil War. Pittsburgh became a majority German city, their labour made David Rockefeller very rich. Both baseball players Honus Wagner and Stan Musial were sons of German coal miners near Pittsburgh.
As for Trump, he played his cards well in his meeting with Macron. Maybe it's beginning to sink in that he can't run a nation by insulting everyone - except the Russians of course.
