Jason M. Allen was almost too nervous to enter his first art competition. Now, his award-winning image is sparking controversy about whether art can be generated by a computer, and what, exactly, it means to be an artist.

80 hours of work on an art piece is fair. It is not like he said make me a winning painting. He got 900 images from the AI and then one he finally went in photoshop to fix and finalize. AI doesn’t give a full proper rendering. He had to put a head on one of the women. There is detail and nuance to the image. Things he had a hand in putting into the image.

I see this a no different then getting assistance from an art teacher or professional painter. And it meets the criteria of the assignment.

Good for him.
