the real question is not who will get the teeniboppers to vote for them and win this silly competetion, but who will sell the most albums post competetion. How many did Ruben and Taylor sell? My vote goes to Blake for album sales but i somehow think that we have not heard the last from Melinda. This will be Jordin's Andy Warhol's 15 minutes.

The whole AI phenomenon is such that many contestants can do very well in the music industry, even if they don't win the thing, and often times, they do better than the winner. This seemingly irks Simon, whom I guess is just an old fogey British elitist at heart.

Clay Aiken has been more successful than the guy who beat him, Ruben, and Chris Daughtry, even though he only finished 4th, has been way more successful than Taylor Hicks or Kat McPhee. Of the winners, only Kelly and Carrie have had "mega-success".

One of the things I find interesting about this show is that there are more variables in the mix than just singing ability. There is also personality, looks, and marketability. Melinda's "failure" here was clearly more due to some of these other more intangible factors than her ability. I agree, I think she has a fine career, although I don't think she is a mega-star.
