Well that's one wager I lost.

The Montreal Impact are sweeping the floor with Toronto FC. The Saputo family spent the money to build a contender, Nesta and Di Vaio are raising the quality of the players around them. Don't be surprised if Montreal get to the championship game.

Finally a remembrance of what might have been. La Gazetta del Sport once referred to Michael Owen as the Paolo Rossi of England. Unfortunately for him he was rushed back into action from injury too many times. The demands of club and country never allowed him to fully heal and, at 33, his career ends too soon.

yes injuries didn't help Owen's career but he really was hyped up by the English media. His talents were his insane speed and his one touch but off the ball the man was a disaster, he could never make that one touch pass coupled with some really dumb moves motivated by greed he only has himself for his less than stellar career. He scored 13 goals at Real Madrid the overwhelming majority were garbage pointless ones when they were up 4-1 in the 88th minute. That move to Newcastle was a complete disaster causing financial hardship on the team and that was the beginning of his downward spiral. But all in all it proves that anyone who leaves Liverpool (Xabi Alonso being the exception) can expect their career to go down the tubes :)

We've just learned the meaning of class.

Unlike the English bully, the Azzurri spared Malta from humiliation. It's not in Italy's interests to fray a historical bond, Malta spared Lo Stivali from a direct Ottoman invasion in the 16th Century. Prandelli has made shrewd decision by keeping both Marchisio and Candreva on the roster. When both were coming through the Juventus youth system the decision was made that one of them had to be released for the benefit of the other. This is a much deeper squad than the one that reached the final of the Euro. Should Italy meet England in Brazil, San Marino's honour will be avenged.

when goal difference is counted you don't sit back and cruise through a game because you have "historical bonds" England is having a heck of a time with tiny Montenegro in that group so the Mr. Nice Guy act needs to be dropped, and if necessary you start putting in 8, 9,10 goals.

Oh well.

If you can't beat them buy them, ManCity is preparing an obscene bid for Stevan Jovetic. Fiorentina has already gotten a huge windfall from the Arabs (Nastaic) it about time they used that largesse for a new stadium. The Viola's grounds is one of the most decrepit in all of Italy.

Still, you humiliated our little cug. Revenge is a dish best served with cold cuts, I hope the English have a likin for prosciutto and asiago.

Both surprised and pleased with yesterday's results. Bayern is back on full form and PSG really jumped up out of their class for that one.

Could well be two German and two Spanish sides in the final four now.

anyone hear about the status of Messi?
He'll sit out this week end against Mallorca. Team wants to confirm actual injury and severity of it.

Seems like a precaution.

A lovely domestic season for Bayern. No times to celebrate though, more work to do.

Heard the same about Messi, not particularly serious and will not miss a champions league match.

Pity all the main leagues seem to be done and dusted...French league is the closest and PSG are up by 7.

Champions League is the focus the rest of the way I suppose! Unless you support a team on the edge of relegation!

I feel the same way. Although Cup matches might still provide some meaningful entertainment in the countries that take them seriously.

I don't hold out much hope for Juve, Bayern are fearsome playing off the wings.

Pirlo has been rested but if Marchisio allows himself to be owned by Schweinsteiger again then it's all over.

It looks as if Ac Milan will finish third in the table, no club will want to go against them in the CL elimination round.

What a result for Dortmund! There is plenty of great football left for this year.

2 goals in stoppage time! unbelievable. galatasaray made a match of it as well.
I think that result for Galatassary will serve them in very good stead next year. It will help them mature and feel like they can play on the same pitch as the big boys. If they keep up with the strong acquisitions, we could see some good years for them in the future.

Not really. Drogs and Sneijder will either be over the hill next year or the year after. GS will have to keep signing expensive players, which I dont think they have the funds for

I had read some things indicating that they are in acquisition mode, but the summer will tell us.
