Garnett is the closest thing to a lock with the length of service, defensive awards and one MVP so far. Pierce seems the least accomplish and really does not belong in the discussion at all. Playing in Boston will unfairly help him. Allen's numbers and awards are impressive considering the small markets he has played in. Obviously, rings would help each.

F'd up the poll a bit since didn't set it up to be able to choose all three.

23.5 PPG, 38 minutes a game, 6.5 rebounds, 4 assists and almost 2 steals a game career averages and that isn't worthy?

All his numbers are better then Allen's.

...a dozen names of people whose stats are better and who are not in, primarily because they have no ring, and no MVP awards, ala Mr. Pierce. And I'm not saying Pierce isn't great, nor am I saying he isn't on par with Allen (though I think I'd give Allen the nod at by the slimmest of margins when they were both at the peaks of their careers)

NBA HOF isn't the same as the NHL HOF. You need more than a pulse and decent stats.

Yeh, you could probably go through 50% of the players in the hockey HOF and scratch your head.

Now I don't think either would cheapen the basketball HOF like say Jim Gregory's election did this year for hockey but they just don't seem like locks the way the media conveniently tags the trio. Call them the Big 3 fine but not three future HOFer's as if all of them had Garnett's resume.

Actually, statistically speaking, Pierce and Allen are quite similar. Allen has played a couple more years so has higher points totals and number of games, and has higher FG, 3pt FG & FT percentages. On the other hand, Pierce has been (oh, it pains me to say this about the once mighty Celtics) stuck in Boston for his whole career with very little in the way of a supporting cast and has managed to put up very good numbers.

While I don't think either of them is shoo-in to the HOF yet (although an argument could be made for both), if the big three manage to stay healthy, keep their ego's in check, and play together for 2-3 more years, than I think at that point, all of them will have the career numbers get in!

I have not looked at Ray Allen's numbers or his career in about 5 years. I really thought he was done a few years ago, I think he had one or two soft years, and I thought he was done.. .... so I cannot say yes or no as far as the HOF for Allen.

Paul Pierce... still too early to say... there have been so many really great players with Pierces stats... and his Won/Loss record (not this year of course) has been pretty dismal...
