WOW that was cool to watch thanks. What amazes me is that as good a scorer as he is, did you see those hits he was dishing out? He's a tough kid. Bigger than i thought too he's like 6'2" and over 200. it'll be fun to watch he and Crosby in the coming years. Itll be like a Bird/Magic rivalry. Wait til Malkin joins Crosby next year, he may be better than both of them.

sorry Crosby, but this guy is more amazing

I agree. Too bad this guy is not going to get any good teamates any time soon. If Pittsbutgh play their cards right, they may have a team like the Ottawa senators in the near future. They have a good shot at getting the #1 pick this year again. That makes, what, something like 3 #1 picks in the last 4 years and 1 #2 pick that can easily be a #1 pick any other years.

That's one thing that really impresses me about Ovechkin, he's willing to dish out the hits too. Too bad it didn't include the footage of him running Martin Biron!

And we thought Yagr had moves......what an exceptional talent this kid is indeed.

Can't believe how quickly the puck comes off his stick with such accurate precision when he is wristing the puck.

Will be scary to see how good Ovechkin is when he hits his mid-twenties. Nevermind the Calder, I'd say he has a good shot at the Hart. He's carrying the Caps on his back.

Thanks for the vid.

A great talent, no doubt..

...fabulous quick hard shot, great skating, tough, has moves....but I think someone's gonna lower the "Boom" on him sometime with those through the feet moves..he keeps his head down for a long time on that move. Unfortunately, in the new NHL, there aren't a lot of great body checkers on defense...maybe Phanuef in Calgary??....I'd like to see him try that move on Scott Stevens, whe Stevens was in his prime...

Glad to Share with you guys...

He is a talent and should have a great career in the NHL. We should remember that Ovechkin is 2 yrs older than Crosby. Yes new2game, we will see what happens when Alex gets his world rocked. I still remember him at last year's WJC final. He got hit so many times he stayed in the tunnel because he didn't want to go back on the ice in the 3rd period. His highlite reel goal against the Coyotes was impressive but Boucher totally blew it by not staying with the puck.

Sweet hilight reel indeed! Ovechkin is definitely the ROY barring any major injury or collision with the "wall".

Fair or not, Sid and Alex will forever be linked like the way the NBA forces the Carmelo/Lebron crap. Ten years from now, I see Ovechkin with 150 more goals than Crosby but Sid with slightly more points and more critically, more playoff wins. I would say this with or without Malkin. Crosby makes his team better (Lebron) whereas Ovechkin just scores (Carmelo).

Doesn't have the lateral movement to keep up with Ovechkin.Would be a repeat of the way Joe Sakic kept making Stevens look foolish when the two met up in the Stanley Cup a few years ago.

..Have to disagree. There are at least two times in that clip where Ovechkin has his head down, fishing for the puck. Any defenseman worth his salt had ample opportunity to plaster him...However, this does not take away from his talent..a magician with the puck for sure..and tough too..

I hear what you're saying. Eventually all forwards get rocked by someone like Stevens. I'm sure defencemen all over the league are just waiting for a chance to hand Ovechkin his lunch. More often than not, I think Ovechkin would have too much speed, power and creativity for Stevens to deal with in a one-on-one situation.

The game has changed quite a bit since Stevens caught Lindros with that wicked hit.

Kids nowadays grow up used to the fact that some lumbering hulk of a defenceman is ready to rip your head off the moment you enter their territory watching the puck and have developed a sense of awareness to that fact.

Young budding superstars are taught this by thier coaches through all levels of hockey. From the age of 8-9 on, any player who possesses elite skills of any kind is taught to watch out for the cheap shots. If you do not believe me, then talk to people who have a kid who is the best player on their hockey team. Chances are, he goes on the ice with a bulls-eye painted on his shirt and the other team will purposely take runs at him.

A sad but true reality in the new age of minor league hockey.

Hey Ref and Tromb

..I'm just saying that any decent defenseman could have nailed Ovechkin on a few of those moves..his head was down for a long time fishing at that puck...

name 1 player that doesn't look at the puck when he weaves it through a defencemen's legs like Ove does.

all of the pros do it.

Then why haven't they?

For the same reason D were never really able to lay out Pavel Bure. Only thing is Ovechkin is a lot bigger and more powerful than Bure. Not saying it will never happen, but the way you say it comes across like Ovechkin is easy to stand up.
