stinks...2/15 this series, no RBI...completely disappeared (in the playoffs) since game 4 of the ALCS last year. The Yankees havent won it all since 2001, I think Mt. Steinbrenner is about to erupt!

Well, lots of Yankees haven't performed since that date.
;)
He remains the best player in the league. 15 at bats isn't a great sample size.

Anyway, I think you may be right about Steinbrenner.

Oh yeah, for sure. Steinbrenner, after all, was the guy who blew up at Dave Winfield, a Hall of Famer, for not performing in the post season, calling him "Mr. May", in contrast to Reggie Jackson's "Mr. October".

The Angels are a good team and deserved to win. The Yankees could have won, but let's face it, they have a lot of weaknesses.

no point in starting another thread, but...

why does the ALCS start tonight when Game 5 was last night?

way to go Bud

To cripple the Angels and make Byrd start on 3 days rest... :D

hehe

Back to reality now. Angels are going to have a rough time. They flew overnight back to Anaheim for game 5 and now again they flew overnight to start game 1 against the White Sox. These guys slept in the airplane! And to make things worse, Colon may be out and the status of Washburn is unclear.

Sorry I didn't produce guys...
On the serious side give a-rod credit, he came out right away and said he sucked. Don't forget one guy can't win it all. Play-offs is pitching, pitching and more pitching.

Which is how the Jays won in '93.
;)
The playoffs are about the same thing the regular season is - scoring more than your opponents, which is equal measures offense and defense.

I know the rainout affected the schedule...but then they should have changed it again!
Why make the White Sox wait? They'd already scheduled Tuesday, and since there was nothing preventing this game from coming off, it went ahead as scheduled. Sometimes teams have to play back to back, even after a long travel day. That's just the way it is.

Many of the posters in here would disagree with that statement, including, apparently, the person I quoted.
So, what's your point, exactly? (Or, were you NOT being facetious?)

ultimately its a moot point, even moreso that the Angels surprsingly took Game 1.

But, the rained out game occurred on Saturday, plenty of time to move it back, but whatever...

No, I don't think Rodriguez stinks. I think he stinks less than any other player in the AL - that is, he should be the hands down MVP.

Maybe not "hands down", maybe "glove down"? ;)

Bat down, at least.
;)
(Yeah, that was a pretty ugly error he made. Even gold-glovers eat one once in a while ........)

Actually while that was a clank, I meant v Ortiz. I think if Papi played even a sub-standard first base he would be MVP. As a DH, he's really not worthy, he only plays offence.

If I am an owner, salary aside I would take A-Rod on my team anyday. I don't think that there is a knowledgable ball fan in here who wouldn't.

There isn't a club in the majors he wouldn't improve. He is the best player in the AL, perhaps the game. The only guy I'd put on his level is Pujols.

I think Papi will likely win MVP anyway. Not that he deserves it.
A-Rod, flat-out, is a better hitter.
