I am planning a trip to Thailand in November to visit family and to have some fun. Not sure what airline to fly with. Also does anyone know of any good websites to find flights? I have looked at a few such as Expedia.ca Flightcenter.ca Flightnetwork.ca maybee there are better ones out there?
Are you an elite member with One World? Then I recommend Cathay Pacific (CX) based in Hong Kong from YYZ or YVR. If you're an elite, their lounges are the best in the world. If you are not an elite member and can't use a lounge, HKG International Airport is perfect for a transfer. Very accomodating for all. CX has the best times from BKK. Others will like Singapore Airlines as well. Thai, is okay, not the greatest, but okay, especially if you can get the direct flight.
You have to fly business class or better. If you are flying economy, then Cathay Pacific. Japan Airlines is okay, but I find their economy class seats too tight for my fat ass....well, it's not fat, those seats are tight. And JL only has 2 flights out of BKK's new airport at the worst times 8am and 10pm. So I try to avoid them from BKK. ANA (All Nippon Airlines: NH) might be better there. Korean Air is out of ICN (Seoul) and some don't like them on the long haul. I think their coffee is the best in the sky and I like the hot-sauce paste they give. So the food's good, but their 744's are old planes and uncomfortable on a long haul, in fact 2 long-hauls if using ICN. That's why Hong Kong is better as BKK is only 2 hours from there. Just better and get a layover in Hong Kong. Mmmm...
The US Government ruined freedom and commerce inside the USA using a booking engine to find flights and prices over a long period of time at different locations, claiming that "taxes and fees weren't included making it an unfair result", so they banned it. This is why Travelocity can't show them in their "Dream Maps" area. A result from a Prehistoric government currently operated by fools to come up with a ruling like that.
I recommend to go directly to the airline's websites and price it out. A website called Fare Compare can at least get results similar to Travelocity's "Dream Maps", but broken down differently, using some sort of loophole or just ignoring the unenforcable ruling by the US Government, but they never price out correctly in the end, many times. Maybe they put the server in the Cayman Islands....I dunno.
If you are stuck with Air Canada, oh dear, invest the extra cash just to stay away from them.
Gyaos.
