In fairness to Simon on what one or was it two flights out of hundreds of thousands.
my luck i would get that flight lol. i am afraid of heights at the best of times, that's why i have never flown before, so the thought of the rook ripping off is not something i am overly excited about.

It was SWA 737-300s earlier this year. Most of the fleet had to be grounded for a few days for inspections and repairs.

well that sucks, i ain't paying but i am not gonna allow her to drop 4x the money just so i don't get bumped. i don't think there would be a heavy traffic flow of people flying to california on a sunday at 7 or 8 in the morning though.
Sunday mornings are pretty tepid for travel. However most airlines have a Saturday night rule for non-elite members/travelers. That is you need to stay over at some location on a Saturday night or fly before a Saturday and return after a Saturday. An example, I flew to YYZ this past Sunday from DEN for $580 on United. Had I flow on Saturday or Friday, it would have been $415. It's a dumb rule but the big names (United, American, Delta) still hold to that model.
