According to posts from MP and SP board, seem to suggest DATY to be generally accepted by guys, if not often requested. Many guys there seem to think DATY or DFK are somehow risk free.
You are quite right it is generally accepted and offered by 90% of the sp's in TO and by a lesser % of the MPA's . This has been going on for how many years? Sort of puts to rest the 1 in 24 theory doesn't it ( idiots accepted of course ) .

There have even been , as Dave below states , 1 or 2 cases . You heard him David , 1 or 2 . There would of course be no Terb if it was the infamous 1 in 24 as we'd all be infected .

None the less it is possible to transmit through vaginal fluids and most people know this and that the risk is very very slight . Most also know to avoid the activity with an "unknown" partner if you have bleeding gums etc .

Geez. Everybody happy now ?

Rather than get information second hand, why not just go to WebMd.com, seach for STDs and get some straight answers? If you happen to have an STD, there are message boards where experiences are shared.

There is risk in everything other than abstinence. Condoms are not fool-proof. Where there is sexual activity, the odds of contracting a STD vary, with genital warts one of the easiest to contract and AIDS, the hardest. With some precaution, the odds of contracting an STD become quite long.

Here is the definitive link to the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta regarding the risks posed by oral sex:

http://www.thebody.com/cdc/oralsex.html

Taking in to account the following givens:

Neither partner has a sore or bleeding area in their mouth

Than the risk of becoming infected engaging in DFK is extremely unlikely http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/Oral/Archive/Risk/Q76852.html

The risk of infection from DATY is higher, but assuming the female partner is not menstrating, it is also extremely unlikely.

If anyone is interested in more information, try the following searches in Google: HIV and Saliva, HIV and Kissing, HIV and Cunnulingus. Each of these will turn up numerous links to definitive medical information.

Although the threat of contracting HIV is a scary one that people need to take precautions against, let's not forget the many other diseases which are at higher risk of transmitting through unprotected oral sex. Herpes, chlamydia, warts, hepatitis, yeast infections....there is a whole alphabet of potential diseases or infections that can be passed on, and many of these show NO symptoms and can stay with a person for life with NO cure. As hobbyists and workers, there needs to be mutual respect for each others safety to ensure clean places to work and play.

Angelina: tried to PM you, but your box was full. There is a great book I picked up on Amazon.ca called " Turning Pro: A Guide to Sex Work for the Ambitious and the Intrigued" I believe the author is Magdaline Meretrix. She has worked in a variety of fields such as phone sex operator, exotic dancer, peep show girl, etc and provides a lot of useful info on marketing your services, protecting yourself (both physically and legally). Although the info is more relevent to the US, I still found it really helpfull. I think it should be mandatory reading for anyone in the biz!
