I would appreciate some suggestions on how best to do this. I am also looking for a hotel in the Richmond Hill or Aurora or New Market area that offers such a rate. I am a long time member but I have never had to book a room before. I will pay by cash and ask to pay the damage deposit with cash as well. To be honest I am not sure how to approach the hotel in case they ask for the reason for the daytime usage. The reason may be obvious but any advice on the best way to do this would really be appreciated.

Why not just phone around and practice asking? Just call and say you're coming to town on biz and need a day rate if they offer it. Most will be quite accommodating.
Excellent advice.

When I've used a day room I call around the day before and every hotel answered any questions I had.

My friend, they KNOW why you want the room ;). They won't ask, so don't worry about that.

The one thing may be the cash deposit, I know of one hotel that's fine with it but far more that aren't.

Thanks both of you for the advice. I am prepared to give a credit card for a deposit if I have to.

You can use a CC when you check in and pay cash when you leave. Thus no deposit required. They will have your name but the charge obviously won"t be on your CC statement. There are some lower end motels that will rent by the hour and no ID but you might have to make friends with the bedbugs. :))

The Hilton by the airport offers a day rate 9-6, or 8-6. Very nice rooms, can even get a suite if interested. No questions asked, you may be conducting meetings or waiting for your plane/layover. Can book in advance. Great rates too. Discreet parking behind building.

Sheratons by the Airport can be booked the same day if they have rooms available.

Hope this helps.
EXACTLY!!! They don't think you are up to anything naughty , just needing room for meetings or in between places , or travelling on the road. I went accross Canada & drove at nite to avoid traffic & slept in the day ...... to get out of Ontario quickly. Then on Highway accross Canada in day have no traffic jambs.

If you need a reason, tell them you're a vicar, and you're looking for some peace and quiet, so you can concentrate on writing sunday's sermon. And you can mention that a member of your flock will drop by, to discuss a personal matter.

I dunno what their policy on day rates is.

Event if they do suspect that a sexual act would happen on their premise, it is not illegal in Canada, isn't it? (May be just not yet...) People do have affairs, people fuck other people all the time, often - in hotels. And hotels make money on sex. :)

I've done this at least 10 times. The reasons were equally: meeting a girl for an outcall; legitimately laid-over for my next flight and not wanting to hang around the Toronto airport for 6-8 hours; exhausted after an overnight flight and need a couple hours rest before meeting clients who have offices near the airport. Anything I've ever booked it was easy and never felt the hotel cared one iota (because they don't!). The rate has always been about $100.

Monte Carlo definitely has day rates, at least the 2 in Markham do. I use them all the time. I have never been asked why.
But the day is only from 9-4 or 10-4. I have paid cash, including the deposit. They do ask for ID. They do not take reservations ahead of time.
