Has anyone seen the ad in Eye or Now:

Adult Production Company
Female owned/ operated needs models of all types.
M/F18+. For centerfold
photography, tv shows, internet, and Adult/ music
videos.No exp.Great
income. Have fun working with
gorgeous models! 416- 227-9809
www.lovenow.com

I went there and they chose me, but said I needed photos taken first (with a model), which they would set up, but I was to pay $500 for the shoot, for them to show clients to determine the part I would play. They also guaranteed that I would get at least one day of work worth at least $500. Does that sound like a scam, or legit? THey said any actor should have photos, and said I could get my own photographer if I wanted.

Just wondered if anyone has had any experiences with them

Scam.

Any time someone asks you to pay money to get a job it's a scam.

Definitely a scam!

There was an article in one of the Toronto newspapers about this in the summer . One of the male reporters actually went to the place on the pretext of signing up and talked to some of the people that actually paid. Conclusion was that it was a scam .

maybe not

well... it might be a scam... but what they say about every actor needed photos is 100% true... the fact that they give you the option of getting them done elsewhere would indicate that maybe they aren't trying to scam you..

if you got your headshots done somewhere else and went back and they still asked you for money then i'd say yes... it's a scam..

but if they take your photos and then call you for work... bingo!

what did you end up doing?

Her name is Rebecca Love...

...she is a former exotic dancer and appeared in a few porn productions shot in Toronto. It was a series called "The Great Canadian Beaver Hunt" and was produced by a fellow named Gunn (sir name). He's based out of Buffalo or Rochester if my memory serves me correctly.

She is running a scam, no doubt about it.

For males to get into the adult video world, it's almost like pulling eye teeth. They need you to rise and shoot on cue for the money shot as well as the stamina to go forever (crews need to establish each angle and that takes time - hence the need for fluffers).

Don't kid yourself if you happen to be "discovered" by one of these posers.

I thought it was a scam too

so I did not go back. I told them if they were a financially stable company, they should be able to pay for my photos, and withhold my $500 worth of work, and I would even sign something saying that I would pay them if I do not work $500 worth. Anyway, thanks for all the input. There was no way I was about to put out $500 without making that much first.

Just thought I would add my two cents since I lurk here in this forum and someone mentioned my name: The series I shot in and around Toronto back in the 90's was actually called "Canadian Beaver Hunt" (not "The Great etc...") It's funny, every Canadian person I have ever met makes that same mistake and gets the name wrong. I also did another pro-am series called "Canadian Stripper Search" mostly in the GTA as well. By the way I grew up in New Jersey & the Hudson Valley area of NY, and went to college in Albany, not Rochester or Syracuse.

In any case, it is true that it is more difficult for a guy to break into the porn business than it is for an attractive girl, but you shouldn't be a sucker and pay someone to take pictures of you on the promise of potential work. That's total bullshit. I sometimes hire new(ish) guys with even some limited stud experence if they write me or e-mail me an intelligent cover letter and attach pics of some kind and/or if they have a female partner to work with for a test shoot. Of course, for girls it is infinitely easier to break into the business if they are hot and sexy if they e-mail me pics or call me since I film and need new girls all the time. By the way, I recently filmed one of your home city's hottest strippers here in Florida for my lastest movie Strap-On Sally 20 and got her signed to a contract with a big porn company for eight movies all to be directed by me in 2003, details to follow soon on my web site in case anyone cares to look.
